It's causing quite a bit of controversy because some people think it re-enforces a stereotype that all black people eat fried chicken. Personally, I don't see it.
Try to keep the converscation civil and reasonable. Mods, if you think this topic is too sensitive, then lock away.

It's no worse than the Popeye's Chicken one I've seen here with a black lady screaming about how good her fried chicken is, or the KFC one where literally damn near everyone in the line for food in the commercial was black.

I don't see the racism in it. All I see are a bunch of black people having a good time and enjoying some fried chicken.
I don't see what's wrong with black people eating fried chicken. I'm black. I eat friend chicken. I'm not ashamed of it(and personally it's a stereotype I'd rather have than the gangsta thug one).
If it was a commercial filled with nothing but white people or even mexicans eating friend chicken no one would even bat an eyebrow.
Hey, I got one; if we see a commercial with Chinese people eating Chinese food, let's call it racist because it enforces the stereotype that Chinese people eat Chinese food.

It isn't racist at all!
They are at a Cricket match with one of the teams either a South African team, a Ghana team, or a Jamaican team.
I'm placing money on Jamaican, cause the music they are playing sounds Jamaican. He shares his KFC with them.
That's not racist. That's being nice! f*** all! Are we so insecure about being politically correct now that commercials where a white guy is being nice to a crowd of black people is racist?
I didn't see racism, I saw people, without a doubt people rooting for two different teams, enjoying the game. If anything, the fact that the fan from one team was able to do a kind gesture to a crowd of fans of the other team is in and of itself an amazing feat.
You try going to a game between the Manchester United and Arsenal football clubs, and sit down amongst a crowd of Arsenal fans wearing a Man U jersey and try and pull that off, you can call me from the hospital and tell me how it went.

Big fat MEH from me, it's a cultural thing. KFC certainly couldn't release that commercial HERE I mean no one watches SOCCER in the U.S. I mean seriously.
I don't know I don't get a LOT of racism I grew up seeing all racism as a joke and thats how I see it as an adult, I find racist people incredibly funny, not unlike a drunk squirrel.
But racism is just a point of view and Aussies don't have the same point of view as people in the U.S. LOT of white guilt going around the U.S. white people who are just SO god damned offended when someone appears to have made a racist comment. All that fake concern and moral posturing makes me want to do something cartoonishly violent like punch a baby or spear a nun.

I'm going to start crying about racism whenever I see a white person in a commercial eating a hamburger.

I thought they were wearing opposing team colors and since its an international sport that perhaps the opposing team might be from a nation with a black majority.
Also, I thought those two in that video commenting on it came off as major twits.

It's easy to see why those of in the U.S. could see it as racist, since it's culturally a world apart from what we're used to. The soccer aspect was lost on me until I watched it again.

Of course the sport isn't soccer, it is Cricket. Why else would the ad begin with "KFC's Cricket Survival Guide"?

I looked at it and saw a fan from one team...sitting amongst the fans of the opposing team, and feeling embarrassed as his team seems to be getting demolished. Exasperated, he starts offering his bucket o' chicken to the fans around him.
I guess I kinda see how it might be racist...but I dunno...I don't personally think it's a racist commercial. If he passed out tea to a bunch of English people, or Mountain Dew and Doritos to a bunch of roleplaying fanatics, it'd be hilarious.

I love how they use the term "African American" Its an Aussie Ad. Guess what, they are not African American.

The other team is West Indies. As Todd Sampson said on "7PM Project" tonight, "It;s not a racist ad, but it's not a good ad either."

Its not racist. Its an Australian guy watching cricket sitting with West Indies cricket fans. The two teams have a passionate rivalry. Its like someone in a Utd shirt sitting with Liverpool fans. Except the latter situation couldn't be solved with chicken, you'd just end up in the hospital.
