Loved the film, the talking dogs were hilarious to me, and it still had a very heartwarming feel to it. The characters were great and just that whole magic about being able to fly your own house, it's pretty awesome.

You know what, I've heard how good this movie was, and I never saw it in the theatre. I bought the Blu Ray blindly just on hype and I'm glad I did. Best movie of the year for me.

I know it'll astonish a lot of you, but my dad actually didn't like this movie. He said it was too emotional. To that extent, I might have to agree with him. Looking at the previous Pixar films, there are some sad moments, but none of them are even close to what there is in Up. I did enjoy the movie despite how depressing it gets at times.

Looking at the previous Pixar films, there are some sad moments, but none of them are even close to what there is in Up. I did enjoy the movie despite how depressing it gets at times. I think that's what made it better for me. Anytime I laughed or cried, I was attached to the characters. Very attached. In all honesty, I never thought I'd care that much for a couple of cartoon characters. But I did. I thought the film had a great blend. I cried in the beginning, middle and end, whilst laughing throughout. Since they're nominating 10 films (I believe) this year for the Oscars, I believe Up deserves a nomination, if not the Oscar itself.

I love, love, LOVE Up. What a film. That first five minutes- good gravy...I'm not gonna lie, I was welling up. Cried more than the girlfriend during the film. Funny, moving, genuinely touching...it reminds you what makes the cinema such a special experience. Pixar's philosophy of the story first shows that they just get it. Brilliant filmmaking all round and Disney is in good hands.
One thing I will say as a slight negative, however, and this is not a slight on Up in particular: this whole 3D thing, they have to make sure that the film truly needs to be in 3D to make the experience better. Otherwise it could become a gimmick which gets old pretty quickly. I would have enjoyed Up just as much seeing it in a non-3d cinema.

I haven't seen Up yet, but I keep reading about how many people cried at the movie and at what parts, and I can't help but feel that a bunch of people (the director, writer, producer, pre-viz people) sat around in a room thinking of ways to make the audience cry. I mean, I get it, movies come with affect, but I have this nagging sense that if I do get around to watch Up, I won't be able to help that this is more constructed emotional manipulation (replete with sound/music cues!) than anything I would truly be affected by were it not a movie.

Watched it yesterday. Hands down my favorite Pixar film now. One of the most creative, funny, and touching films I've seen in years. It just goes to show that in an industry where creativity is choked by the remake, Pixar seems to know how to make an original, creative, and amazing story.
And for those who say that CG is easier than hand drawn animation, lord knows how long it took them to animate every single one of them balloons, not to mention color each indiviually, and even add the reflections.

Probably the best interpretation of how a dog really thinks. If dogs could talk I bet they would all talk like Dug.

Just finished watching this myself. My only regret is that I never saw it in theaters. This film made me cry like a baby and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Very few movies have been able to move me to that extent over the years but this one got me. Count me in on those that think this should not be the best animated film of the year but the best PICTURE of the year. Period.

Bump since I watched it today .........Good god, did I want to hang myself after 10 minutes I mean its been mentioned already but {Spoiler}infertility? Really? Depressionville or what I think Dug was my favourite character though, lines like "Won't you please be my prisoner, please please please!" as well as "SQUIRREL!!!" gave me a right chuckle

It was perhaps a tad too whimsical, but it was very well-made, funny in parts and i'll admit i was stubbornly holding back tears at times. Good little movie.
I found the 3D effects pretty underwhelming though. Same with Avatar. I've seen way better 3D decades ago, where stuff looks like it literally comes out of the screen and you can virtually touch it. Don't know if they're half-assing it or watering it down now, but for the most part it's barely noticeable. With todays technology shouldn't it be better than ever?

Good flick, though I will admit I'm glad Toy Story 3 is next year, Pixar's done two love story-ish movie in a row. One about found love and one about lost love.
However Up is still great, the first tear jerking scene totally caught me off guard with it's poignancy.

I'll also say it's the best movie I saw in 2009. Despite the fact that I didn't watch that many movies that year.

Up just didn't do it for me. I felt really bad for that old dude who's supposed to be the main antagonist. Also, the kid got kind of annoying to me. By the end, I was disappointed. There were some funny parts though.
