I was a Bret Hart guy from day 1. I hated Wrestlemania 12 growing up because I loved both guys but to me, Bret was the less flashy, gritty tough guy and for me, thats what I identified with a little better than flash.

Always loved Shawn and could care less for Bret, although when he turned heel in 97 I thought he was brilliant. That said I'm happy as all hell Bret is back and this time he should be the face and HBK the heel.

I always liked Bret more. I did like Shawn's original heel HBK character, but once he went babyface I couldn't stand the guy. He was too much of a goody good in 96/ealry 97, Bret seemed like more of badass and less fake and annoying. Then when Micheals went heel with DX, his sexual antics were too over the top and I didn't find him very funny just annoying once again. I loved Bret's anti-American character, and even most of the fans would cheer him when he would make fun of Micheals' and HHH's over the top antics. In the ring though it is hard to tell, I still give Bret the slight edge just because he could have a great match with any wrestler no matter what their style or size was he always adjusted his own style to put on a good match, atleast until he got to WCW where it seemed like in most of his matches he was just going through his moveset. Then again Micheals has had some legendary matches with all kinds of different wrestlers.

As a young Canadian boy watching Bret Hart defend Canada every week in 1997, I'm definitely going to have to go with Bret here. I think Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest performers ever but Bret Hart will always be my guy.

Bret.
Hey but I was there when I saw my favorite wrestler got screwed by that little bitch, I was 12 and I remember that all of us young kids were really shocked, disappointed, confused. I remember the older fans swearing and being pissed off.
Now over the year I've grown to like HBK, but it will be interessing to see what is gonna happen next week. I can't remember when was the last time I was so anxious to see RAW.

I grew up when both guys became main eventers, so it's really hard for me to pick one. I felt like I grew up with both of them, but I went with Bret. He was definitely my favorite during my childhood, but Shawn was always 1a. I think Bret being my favorite has a lot to do with him being in the main event of Summerslam 1992, as that's my favorite ppv of all time. The mark in me also blamed Shawn for the screw job in 1997 and it made me hate him, because he had been the reason Bret was gone from the WWF. Obviously that's not completely true, but in my 9 year old mind, that had to be the reason.
So after rambling for a while, the bottom line is that I pick Bret, but Shawn was never that far behind.

Bret is my absolute favourite of all time and although I have grown to like him now during the 90's I HATED Shawn Michaels so it is an easy choice for me.

I probably prefer HBK but I've always liked both and I think they're both head and shoulders above the rest in terms of actual in-ring ability. They're not the biggest stars in wrestling, Hogan, Austin and Rock are. but they're definitely the best in-ring performers of all-time for me. Really can't wait for next week and I haven't been able to say that about RAW in years.

Through to 96 I would say Bret but from 96 onwards Shawn was the better in ring peformer though at his best no one could touch Bret as an in ring story teller for his matches.

I always liked both character-wise, but I prefered watching Bret wrestle. Not that I'd turn down a good HBK performance, though.

Neither, though Bret was alright with me. I thought Sting was cooler and better than the both of them and I kept wondering why Razor Ramon wasn't WWF Champ.

Was in Shawn's corner, and always have been. That being said, aside from his egotistical moments where he looks like a total tool, I don't hate Bret. I'm ecstatic he's coming in for something, and it's really got me interested. Same here. I don't hate Bret but, just massively prefer Shawn.
