I knew some one would try and twist it.
Why oh why would he talk to freaking Michael COLE? AS IF.
Announcers do it all the time "I talked to X before his match tonight"...alas Cole had info he had to pass over and out of familiarity said " I talked to the general before we came on air".

I'm assuming Cole was saying he talked to the General earlier as in when the crew was in Iraq. That's what I immediately thought of when I read it. If all the soldiers were there and the general was *shrugs* I could buy them having a passing conversation.

How do people not see how far fetched this is? I mean it's one thing to stop fighting to watch a wrestling event but to talk to michael cole seriously? A guy fighting a WAR stopped what he was doing to talk michael cole. Seriously? The average solider doesn't even talk to the family every week let alone taking time out of your day to talk to michael cole. I can belive dropping your gun to watch the divas or john cena. But michael cole? No. No way. It's far fetched to imagine a bum on the talking to Cole, no matter how badly he needs spare change.

True. Though I do question why the general would want to talk to Michael Cole of all people. He's a big fan of "The Mod Squad"?

Even worse than that was the fact that they kept having to say what happened at TLC since both Morrison and Cena lost the titles. I don't mind them simply having the recorded earlier graphic on the screen, but it makes the commentary weird in the Cena/Jericho match, because it was a WWE title match. So therefore in the same commentary as they are saying Cena lost the title last week, they talk about the match like it was in doubt, as if Jericho won the title in Iraq and we never heard about it. Mixing up past and present tenses. This makes me think more that the title change last week was a last minute idea. Come to think about it, the last two tribute to the troops show had WWE/World champs on it, who were defending the belts after the tapings of that show at the then Armageddon ppv later in the month (07- Orton who was defending the WWE belt vs Jericho at the PPV and actually faced him on the troops show too, and 08 Cena who was defending the WHC vs Jericho at the ppv). But in that case the matches on the troops show were not title matches, therefore if they did have a last second idea title change they could always just say this was recorded prior to the ppv.
Sorry about the long rant, but it was dumb to make Cena-Jericho a title match and then have weird commentary, although I guess they just did that to make the troops excited about seeing a title match. Though even they probably know no title would change hands there. It's like when I go to a houseshow and the little kids get excited about title matches, as if they're going to see a new champ (though once in awhile you have that- Christian winning the IC in 03 back from Booker, and Miz-orrison winning the world tag belts in 08 from Punk/Kofi)

Guys, Cole worked as a foreign news correspondent during the Bosnian War. Odds are, he's the best person in the WWE to speak to generals and other officers. Serious answer: Good point. Joke answer: "I've covered wars, you know!"
