What was the story behind this?
I always thought the teardrop was a prison tattoo you got when you killed someone.
But I can't remember why Taker was rockin' the teardrop.

I don't remember there ever being a story behind it, for whatever reason.

I always thought the teardrop was a prison tattoo you got when you killed someone. It could also mean that someone close to you died while you were in prison. I don't know why Taker had it though...

Somewhat related: I remember Larry Hughes (NBA's Cavaliers) getting one of those after his younger brother died last season.

Yeah, what was that all about? Perhaps mourning the loss of someone or maybe bizarrely, mourning the losses he has had in the ring, or his previous incarnations, because he seemed like he was more impervious to pain when he started, now he feels more vulnerable? I have no idea.

He came out with this look at Survivor Series 96 against Mankind, so it was nothing to do with Owen

Pretty sure it was more of a Calaway thing than a Taker thing. Maybe his first wife was pushing him over the edge....
