Of all the strange things in the wrestling world one of the strangest had to be the Iron Sheik's abs. Back in the 80's Iron Sheik had some of the craziest abs that you've ever seen. In spite of the fact that Iron Sheik was anything but thin he still managed to sport some very well defined abs that seemed to sit right on top of a huge beer belly.

Everybody from the AWA class he was in (Flair etc) credits him as the best athlete and pure technician from there, just his personal problems let him down.

Oh, I don't doubt the mans ability for one second. I'm a huge Sheik fan, and I love most of his ring work Col. Mustafa excluded. I doubt many people realize that he is as old as he is. The guy was already 40 when he won the belt from Backlund. Some photos of a much younger Sheik. Hansom Devil This wasn't meant to disparage the man in the least. Simply to point out my fascination with his ability to have a beer belly with a simultaneous six pack.

It is an impressive feat. One which holds out hope for be-bellied men everywhere ;D
He was a helluva good worker, very ahead of his time.

I just cannot help to think that if not for his daughter's murder, he would be in better mental shape today. I know he had his problems before but, it just seems like after that he went down hill fast.

I love his appearances on WWE TV now, as it seems to be the only time he's shown being 'normal' and just having fun.

In regards to the first picture. His stomach is actually enormously distended. This is a side effect of Shieky's "medicine" ie. steroids. That is the only way abs grow on top of a gut. (which isn't really a gut, it's actually a super-enlarged stomach)
Most recent examples of distendedness would have been on Test when he was in ECW and Santino right after he debuted and was huge.

Hercules was also an example of this phenomenon in the early 90s. Although, I must say, it is possible without steroid use. I have moderately defined abs despite having a minor spare tire.

Stomachs also become distended due to beer.

I always thought that Kevin Sullivan looked freaky during his manic workout years: Sheiky's gotta be doing something right if he's still around, though.

Stomachs also become distended due to beer. Yeah, but they don't usually have six packs on top of them. That Sullivan picture looks so weird to me, I always imagine him as a little troll guy. And Shiek is just one of those guys who doesn't ever kick it. Kind of like Jake Roberts and Keith Richards in that sense. Guys that have done everything known to man to their bodies but just don't pass away before it's their time.

Yeah I remember the first time I saw this pic and couldn't believe that it was Sullivan. Or the Honky Tonk Man for that matter.

You know. Out of all the interviews he's done. I'm still waiting for somebody to ask why he was eliminated from the 68 olympic games.

Even then, Hart was a Hulk-a-maniac. Nice shoes there Jimmy.
