Foley vs. Piper *in his prime*Foley vs. Roberts
Foley vs. Savage
these three all could have been amazing. i've seen a bunch both on the original list and also suggested in subsequent posts that i personally think would have been amazing. it's so hard to decide on just one. i mean, the actuall poll throws in the caveat "could happen now." it's supposed to be a current thing. that's harder, but there's a bunch of sting matches between him and some wwe lifers that i think could be fun at a wrestlemania or something now:
sting vs. undertaker
sting vs. rock
sting vs. shawn michaels
all three of these have the potential to be classics, each in their own ways. i think that all three would have amazing atmosphere but match quality-wise, i still think, after all these years, that sting and hbk could have a hell of a match if they really wanted to. i mean, we know that the undertaker can really go when he's motivated. he's probably in the best, most agile shape of his life right now. so that could be a real good one. and you know that the rock downright performs when the stage is biggest. that's why he became a straight up legend so quick and at such a young age. the man oozes "it." sting is in decent shape now that he's been back for a little while. and he's nwa world heavyweight champion. granted, it doesn't mean quite as much as it did when he first won the belt back in 1990, but it's definitely something. it's a world title. and he's been good. not great, but good. i want to see these sting matches the most, when talking about matches that could still happen.
and i know sting vs. cactus jack has already happened back in early 90's wcw, but i wonder how a sting vs. foley match, 15 years later, would work. but that's neither here nor there.
i also am dying to see hbk vs. rock. and i want to throw this one out there:
vader (in his prime) vs. lesnar. vader didn't have a whole lot of time at the top, but i'll be damned if he wasn't dominant in wcw in the early '90s. and he was good. probably better than he logically had every right to be. he was their monster, and he was great at it. and lesnar has the size to match vader and he's quite powerful. but both exhibit rarely seen agility and skill in men of that size. granted, their builds are quite different, but that's good. i know you can't classify lesnar as a legend but you can make a case for vader (if you leave out his unfortunate wwf run).
and because this thread has sort of turned into just a generic dream matches thread, i want to throw something out there. and i think this series was actually featured in like the wrestler or inside wrestling's wwf vs. wcw top 10 ratings war thing where they would imagine if each #1, each #2, #3 and so on would wrestle in a series of best-of-five rounds of matches to see who's top 10 was the "best." of course these were mostly b.s. but i remember them featuring owen hart vs. dean malenko. i don't remember who they said would win. but i'm pretty sure this match never happened and i think it would be real good.
i'd also love to see jake roberts vs. kane. i mean, maybe they wrestled in wwf when the snake made his comeback and kane was issac yankem, but i'm talking the kane character vs. the snake. in his prime, that could've been good. i mean, i think the undertaker/roberts match at wrestlemania 8 was kind of a letdown, but it wasn't bad. i think they totally could've done better. but i think roberts/kane has the same sort of potential.
oh, and warrior vs. sting in 1990 right around when warrior was champion i think could have been good. nowadays, not so much. and i think a warrior/sting match in 1999 wouldn't have been much better. sting's a pro, but, geez, i don't even think he could pull off a carry job. hbk would even have a hard time.
