Okay, all jokes about "John Cena's Rap 'n' Wrestling" aside, considering the current demographic focus and the new comic book coming out, what's to say a new sort of Saturday Morning or Cartoon Network Fridays type cartoon couldn't work? Besides, if the upcoming comic is any indication, nobody says it has to be any good.
Aside from that, I thought it'd just be fun to think about how they'd do it nowadays and who would work for the cast, comparing to the original toon, which, per Wiki and for reference, had:
Faces: Hulk Hogan Junkyard Dog Captain Lou Andre the Giant Wendi Richter Superfly Snuka Hillbilly Jim Tito Santana
Heels: Rowdy Roddy Piper Iron Sheik Nikolai Volkoff Mr. Fuji Big John Studd The Fabulous Moolah

I think it would work, since lots of kids watch WWE.

Only if the voice actors are just as out of place now as they were back then.

John Cena's Rap-N-Wrestling? Faces: cena hbk hhh mysterio kofi truth christian morrison Heels: Orton Jericho Batista Ted Cody Ryder Miz Sheamus How can they do that when Cena doesn't even rap anymore. Funny I remember in an interview Cena did once where he called the Rock N Wrestling thing corny and said he would never do a rap n wrestling thing because he thought it was too kiddish or something. It just makes me hate it more that they watered him down for the PG transition.

Raw IS basically this cartoon right now.
Lame plotlines? Check.
an all child demographic? Getting there. Check.
Tons of commercials? DX shilling shopzone crap. Check.
Crazy characters aimed at kids? Hornswoggle....check.
Animate any episode of Raw in the last two years.....you got a show.

Do a lot of kids watch saturday morning cartoons now?
When I was a kid you had to watch because that's the only time you'd see the cartoons. Now they could watch anything they want anytime really online, or their parents can get them a DVD with an entire season worth of cartoons.
I'm sure some still watch. Would be interesting to see how much the ratings have gone down though.

I don't think any kid networks are under NBC Universal. The only network I know of that does legit saturday morning catoons like they did in the 80s and 90s is The CW which got the 4kids company from Fox a year or two ago. I guess a WWE cartoon would work on that. I believe WGN is actually owned by the same company that owns CW but I could be wrong. I know that My Network is under the News Corp. organization which owns Fox who are highly competitive with NBC.

Not to the degree that it did in the 80s.. I always said WWE lost a generation of fans when they went "attitude". The little kid that would have been growing up in the mid to late 90s who they would have locked in would be real big time fan now as a teenager.. But unfortunately, mom and dad wouldnt let him watch back in the mid to late 90s cause of the adult oriented stuff they had on tv back then so now that kid who should be a fan isnt. They didnt lose an entire generation of fans, but they lost quite a bit IMO. And they shot themselves in the foot.. Because they ALSO alienated the fans of the attitude era by going to back to a younger demographic.. Not the greatest move either way really. At least when looking at it long term

At least when looking at it long term I think you are right to an extent but you have to remember how many kids actually went to WWF events in the late 90s. I think almost just as many kids were interested in it back then as there are now. Today it is just a lot of older people(30s and 40s) that don't watch it. Overall though you do have a point. They created a ton of controversy with DX and Steve Austin.

To be fair there was never any "Rock" and barely any "Wrestling" on Hulk Hogan's Rock-N-Wrestling either. For those who need to recall the craptastic Rock-N-Wrestling: tooncrap.blogspot.com/2009/12/hulk-hogans-rock-n-wrestling.html

Something like the super hero squad show with fun comedy and cool action would work.
Might as well do the marine cartoon ala gi:Joe complete with sgt slaughter

It would be cool if they used the cartoons from WWE Kids. If anything a short flash cartoon on WWE.com would be great.

In response, I wave my finger urgently in the direction of Avatar and Phineas & Ferb.
