I think that recent events with DX point towards HHH v HBK at Mania. It's probably the only match 'big' enough to keep HHH out of the title match, and after the last couple of years, plus Shawn's match with Taker last year - HHH might well be thinking its about time he had a good Mania match, with the last one arguably being the one against Cena.
I see Batista screwing Rey at the Rumble, and winning the WHC in the Chamber.
That just leaves the Rumble, and I've got nothing on that one. Maybe Edge, if he's back in time. He could eliminate Jericho, have a brief feud on Smackdown, culminating in a match at No Way Out/Elimination Chamber/whatever. Seems a logical way to keep him OUT of the Chamber after winning the Rumble and already having his title shot in the bag. Which would leave us with Edge v Batista at Mania - seen it before, but don't know if these two have ever faced each other with the heel/face roles the other way around, and if they have, long enough has passed for them to do it this time.
Edit: As for the WWE title, it could be a triple threat between Orton, Sheamus and Cena, or Cena could face Taker. Maybe.

Triple H wrestling for a title at Wrestlemania? No way. Nuh-uh. Impossible.
I'll believe it when I see it.

I think HHH-Sheamus will work out very well. HHH and Sheamus are real-life friends so naturally they will gel together in the ring and spend a lot of time laying out a great match. Plus, HHH is aware that Sheamus needs a big big big win to set him up as the WWE's top big man heel for the 2010s. Therefore, HHH doing a clean job in the middle for Sheamus at WrestleMania will cement Sheamus as a top guy and will great for business in the long term.
This is no different from five years ago when HHH _made_ Batista a top guy by doing THREE consecutive PPV jobs to get him over. That WM match was great and I expect no less from HHH and Sheamus at Mania 26.

I kind of wish HHH could face Batista again if were forced to see HHH in the main event at 'mania. Only this time Batista is the Heel champion and Triple H has never beaten him.

When I grow up, I want to be Dave Meltzer or Bryan Alvarez. Easiest job in the world. Speculate about what might happen in wrestling matches, put "Although plans can change very quickly in WWE" at the start, and pass it off as news. But they have backstage sources! They do. You don't.

I, too, expect Triple H win the Rumble this Sunday. It'll cause some tension amongst DX and it'll lead to HHH getting his mandatory WM title match. At least, it may build up Sheamus (if he wins this Sunday and at Mania) in the sense that he defeated Cena, Orton and Triple H all in a matter of months. Christmas at the McMahon house 2003 Vince - And this one is for you Hunter. Hunter - Gee, Thanks Vince! *unwraps present* Hunter - My contract? I don't understand. Vince - Check section D paragraph 5. Hunter - The signee is contractually entitled to a WrestleMania title match every year! Gee, thanks... Dad!

I will watch the Rumble but if HHH wins, I'm not watching Mania.

Don't we have this every single year? Every year its 'HHH is going to win the Rumble.' Man I need to run a wrestling news site. Easiest job in the world!

I am not sure why people are yelling that this is NEWZ or that there is no way it could ever happen.
Lets assume this is all true. As far as WWE bookers are concerned, between Cena vs. Batista and Taker vs. HBK II along with most likely Bret vs. Vince [or some sort of match involving them and their angle ala Battle of the Billionaires, not necessarily them wrestling], that is all enough to sell WM.
The only thing I would have a hard time believing is if this news said HHH vs. Sheamus is a lock for the main event, final match of the evening. I dont think even WWE are deluded enough to try and pull that.
As a somewhat throwaway title match nestled between some bigger matches on a stacked card, I believe it though. It really goes with the whole "most forgettable WWE Champion ever" gimmick that Sheamus has going for him.

If these plans do in fact come to fruition, I'd be 100% shocked if Michaels vs. Taker for the World Title didn't go on last. Surely they learned their lesson last year after HBK/Undertaker was impossible for anyone else to follow.

Yes lets have HHH or HBK win the Rumble and not some young upcoming star who could benefit from it such as Kofi Kingston.

Well, to be fair, the crowd has pretty much no-sold Kingston ever since the feud with Orton ended. It's a shame really.

Well, to be fair, the crowd has pretty much no-sold Kingston ever since the feud with Orton ended. It's a shame really. They no sell him because they dropped the Jamaican gimmick and didn't replace it with anything. It is the same mistake they made with Cena after they dropped the Thuganomics gimmick. At this point I think they need to repackage Kofi a bit or turn him heel.

Triple H winning the Royal Rumble in of itself is bad enough. Another PPV to go with the hundreds before it which ends with Triple H standing high and mighty in the ring whilst the announce team tell us how great he is.
But the fact it would mean he is in yet ANOTHER Wrestlemania title match is worst of all. Is his gimmick that one dimensional that he can't take place in one non title feud at Wrestlemania?

My problem is that it seems H's direction changes completely whenever Mania comes around. He could be an for an entire year announcer until right before the Rumble and then all of a sudden, he's in the world title picture.

Since when has Triple H had to win the Royal Rumble in order to get a WrestleMania title match? He didn't in 2006, 2008 or last year. Even if he doesn't win the Royal Rumble, he will be in the title match. Guaranteed.
Winning the Royal Rumble to get a title shot at WrestleMania is so 90s.

if people are really upset by the idea of Trips winning the Rumble let the WWE know. Sure it may not have much affect but they do have a contact thing where you can leave comments. Sure it's not much, but at least the right people are seeing the bitching.
