So, two surprises that weren't terribly surprising (at least in hindsight), but still a solid PPV. The best part about this, I realize now, is that, in all likelihood, Edge and Jericho will headline Wrestlemania. EDGE and JERICHO will HEADLINE WRESTLEMANIA. WITH JERICHO GOING INTO WM AS WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION. Holy nuts. When did we ever think we would see the day when Jericho would headline Wrestlemania as World Heavyweight champion? That's a practical miracle. I hate break it to you, but Cena/Tista will Main Event. If that's the case, then the whole thing with EVERYONE saying "Edge WILL main event WM" will go straight to hell. Of course, the E seems to hate making any sort of sense.

Of course, the E seems to hate making any sort of sense. They rarely mean that literally as in the last match of the night though. It annoys me that they don't, but they don't. Last year Orton DID main event the show, but it was a rarity in recent years. Cena won the 08 Rumble and midcarded Mania for the WWE Championship. Taker won the 07 Rumble and midcarded Mania against Batista. Rey won the 06 Rumble and midcarded for the WHC. It's just something they say for hype. I think the Rumble winner SHOULD automatically get the final match on the card spot myself.

Just finished watching this today.
RAW Chamber:
I actually liked the beginning when all the superstars got into it I felt the pacing was fast, fun, and in the back of my head I kind of felt maybe some new stars will be made. Then people started getting eliminated. First Orton, it was a great moment...finally DiBiase stepped up out of the shadows...and then it was quickly ruined when he was unceremoniously pinned two minutes later. Couldn't they have saved him for last to at least make him look credible? Then Kofi, the other bright young star got taken out, Sheamus who isn't my favorite but at least is still new got beaten. Then you get left with the two most stale entities in the WWE. Cena is the lesser evil I suppose. Needless to say I was very relieved when Batista came out as I find his current douche character quite fun. All in all, it started off fun and got progressively worse resulting in a big ol meh.
IC match:
I didn't even know this was on the card to be honest, I just don't care and neither did the crowd. A dead crowd absolutely KILLS even a five star match so this had no chance. I did enjoy the bits of smarky commentary. I think its clear the announcers know what we and the audience know, Drew kind of sucks.
Divas match:
I skipped it, good to see Vickie is still one of the best heels in the WWE though. Even Miz and Orton can't get that kind of heat.
Promos:
MVP vs Miz promo was cool and set up their match while promoting NXT. Don't know why this wasn't just announced and done beforehand. Regal and Edge stunk up the joint I thought, they just sort of showed up, talked, and left. Didn't care.
US title match:
AWESOME. This match was great, MVP was on fire, the Miz looked like a beast with that blood on his cheek in a victory pose with his titles. I really liked this match. Also that spot with Mark Henry looked sick, the crash was so loud. Big Show's cheerleading was hilarious as well. Why does King hate MVP so much?
Smackdown Chamber:
Also AWESOME! Punk vs Truth was short but sweet, Truth has some flashy stuff that's always fun to see. He played his part and made Punk look strong even though he got eliminated relatively early on. Punk's promos were great as well. Mysterio and JoMo did great and had their own shining moments. The final 2, Jericho and Taker was absolutely epic. The crowd was into it, I was into it, it went back and forth, the commentary was decent and then HBK showed up and brought it all to a whole other level. Jericho is champion again!
A mediocre ppv saved by two great final matches. If I have to give it a numerical rating...let's say 8/10.
