Does anybody have a copy of It All Begins? I have bought it three times from three different people and it skips and freezes at the same spot every time. I can't find anything about it doing so for others. I've been watching a lot of DVDs lately, most from ROH, so I know it's not my DVD players. Anybody else have this problem?

That's true.
I tried to return my latest copy to HighSpots and they offered to replace it with a copy that they watch to see if it works. Hopefully, it works out that way.

I just want to point out that Highspots are really just the absolute best with customer service. They've gone above and beyond for me and so many people I know. 99% of the time it runs smoothly. but on the off chance I get sent the wrong item or an item was said to arrive that didn't because of my local post office, Highspots is right there to immediately do whatever they can to right the wrong. I'm proud to support their site.

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as far as ROH compilations go. I currently have: 1. Year One 2. Year Two 3. Year Three 4. Year Four 5. Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk 6. The Summer of Punk 7. KENTA; Go 2 Sleep 8. Danielson vs. McGuinness 9. Kevin Steen; Hell Rising My problem with a lot of of ROH comps is that rather than release one true best-of DVD, guys get multiple different sets (Tyler Black, The Briscoes, Claudio Castagnoli, Kevin Steen, etc). A few titles have caught my eye though. Namely: 1. From Love to Hate: The Jimmy Jacobs Story 2. A Decade in the Making: Jimmy Jacob & BJ Whitmer 3. Japan's Finest 4. Ring of Hardcore 5. The Rise of Generation Next 6. Kings Reign Supreme: The Kings of Wrestling I'm guessing the El Generico and Daniel Bryan vs. the world DVDs are out of print? Those both looked solid as well. Does anyone have any of these collections? Would you recommend any of them, or any other ROH comps? Thanks a lot! First of all, Bryan vs the World and Generico aren't out of print, just out of stock. ROH is slowly changing their DVD packaging type from the standard DVD black cases to more artsy wrap-arounds. When DVD printings have run out of stock, there's been a few months transition to get the new ones out. Bryan Danielson: World Champion, Bryan Danielson: Final Countdown and Tyler Black: God's Last Gift were just finally re-released in this new style after being unavailable and out of stock for a while, so Danielson vs. the World should be back in stock in a few months. Thus, I wouldn't run off to eBay to pay exorbitant amounts for it just yet. Second, of your list I probably enjoyed the Love to Hate the most. While the shoot is just pretty good (it's the least entertaining of the Jacobs shoots I've seen, and it's still good) the complete vignette collection and match choices are absolutely excellent. Ring of Hardcore is worthwhile if you want a few matches on there that aren't available on any other comps or events that you're interested in. Be sure to cross-check with other DVDs you were going to buy to see if it's right for you. I noticed your post has no mention of either McGuinness set. His very first compilation is absolutely worth owning and my personal favorite of the recent (2011-present) ROH compilation releases. That first Nigel set really is his Best-of, and you get him personally introducing each match to give his insight. And, honestly, I like how they breat the best-ofs into eras instead of sacrificing chunks of the performers' careers for quick overviews. Steen's Ascension to the top is really his best solo work and work with Generico, and Descent into Madness is the entirety of their year-long feud in one DVD set. Every segment and important match is there, allowing the magnitude of the feud to sync in with every step.

Glad we get one last Steen comp.
Are the Steen-Rhyno and Steen-Elgin matches from his world title reign only available on those particular events' DVDs?

HighSpots sent me a replacement copy of It All Begins and it also freezes and skips. Ugh.
This is the fourth copy of the show that has done it for me.

That would be great of you guys to check.
It starts during the Nigel/Joe match with about 6-7 minutes remaining. At around that point, it starts skipping a bit. Then, 3 of the copies freeze and go straight to the Colt Cabana promo at the end. The 4th copy I have tried finishes the Nigel/Joe match, but then freezes while trying to go to the next chapter and then skips to the Joe/Foley confrontation.
HighSpots thinks all of their copies might be defective, as they all came from the same batch. So...if you need It All Begins, don't get it from HighSpots. Get everything else from HighSpots, though. They remain great in my book!

I have to go pick my wife up from work in a few minutes, but I will definitely check the disc out and get back to you. Probably within an hour or so.

I just watched those problematic spots, and did not have any issues at all. Playback during Joe/Nigel was fine.
I wish I could tell you where I got my copy, but I have no idea, as I've had it for ages now.

Shoot. I'm happy for you, but I'm very frustrated for myself.
Maybe I'll just stop looking for a little bit and come back to it. I put out some feelers on eBay, asking if the sellers have watched it or saw any problems. No responses yet.
Thank you very much for checking!

just watched the match on my copy. no issues. all of your's must have come from the same bad batch, which unfortunately did happen on a handful of occasions. i remember when they re-released Round Robin Challenge II in 2007 or 2008 the audio was screwed up and out of sync on all the discs, and they had to get them remade. i know you're probably mostly interested in a pristine, complete DVD collection, but again if you just want to watch a glitch-free version of the show it is under the Ringside members section on ROH's website.
a few of semi-related notes:
1. We'll roll on with our heads held high, our conscience in the gutter, our dreams up in the sky...
2. i miss pre-TNA Samoa Joe
3. its sad watching early McGuinness. so much promise and potential that ultimately won't be reached, with his in-ring career ending on a whimper instead of a bang. not to mention this match in particular, with him getting the forearm smash to the face that knocked him into the corner, the Ole kick, the lariat that sent him flying and lading on his head, and the finish with Joe repeatedly kneeing the top of his head.
4. god did Mark Nulty and Jimmy "DANGEROUS!!!" Bower suck on commentary. Gabe was a great booker for most of his ROH run, but he was horrible on the mic.
5. i still feel It All Begins is one of the must underrated ROH shows of all time.
