When I was in elementary school, yes. I was a quiet, shy kid who never caused any trouble, answered questions when asked, said "Ma'am" and "Sir", and made A's and B's. One teacher actually said he wished he had a whole class of just kids like me Then jr high rolled around and it all went to hell in a handbasket...I was still quiet, shy, polite, and well behaved, but my folks divorced and I got depressed and started only studying/doing enough enough homework to pass by the skin of my teeth, and fell asleep in class a lot.

I wasn't a teacher's pet(I personally think the teacher's pet is the student who not only stays out of trouble, but sucks up as well).
I just was quiet during class. During elementary school I was almost quiet the entire time I was in the school building. In middle school I started to open up a bit and would talk all the time until I got into the classroom, then I was quiet. In high school, I talked all the time except while the lesson was going on. And that's how I am in college too.
Once the lesson begins, it is quiet time.
