Also to answer the OP’s question Beavis & Butthead’s dislike of Death Metal is really not that surprising at all, when you consider that a lot of people who fit into the image of the stereotypical metalhead (at the time) couldn’t (and still can't) stand death metal. I find that strange, I would consider myself a stereotypical "metalhead" then and now and DeathMetal has always been f***ing awesome to me. I love it as the chunkier heavier (musically) version of Thrash, not as loved as Thrash or anything but whose fans are pretty rabid. Now while I don't agree with them one bit, I still consider this really funny. God I love that album, I still wear the shirt. R.I.P Chuck Schuldiner, the father of DeathMetal.

I think their taste in music falls in between classic hard rock and thrash metal, hence their respective t-shirts (Butthead's AC/DC shirt to Beavis' Metallica shirt). They certainly like thrash which is why I kind of wonder, cuz most of the well known deathmetal of the day wasn't too far removed from thrash, the same drop D tuning but with slightly more gravely lyrics. youd think, but I've talked to a lot of older people who got into metal in the 80's, and they hate death metal. too extreme for them, I guess. Death Metal's kinda like wrestling. those who don't like it will never understand, and those who do need no explanation.

I have a vhs tape with that music video around here somewhere, most death/black metal videos back then were pretty bad, except for Blashyrk!

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that it's the vocals. It's sort of difficult to take someone seriously when they sound like a constipated pig trying to barf into the mike. Can you tell I don't care too much about Death Metal? I usually like the music, but the vocals always kills it dead for me.

It doesn't help that death/black metal tends to be over top visually almost as it is musically. For example, in the King Diamond video from earlier in the thread. Most of the jokes tend to be about his appearence (i.e. comparing him to "The Count", askin what his kids must think, etc)
