Most of the people listed do the Tiger Driver. I know for a fact Ryder, Misawa (who invented the move), and Regal all did it this way. Ryder's done it once, and he used a powerbomb pin, pushing the legs of the victim forward against his shoulders, not a sitout. Regal does the same, when he goes for a pin after it. He still sat out for the powerbomb. It's still considered it a Tiger Driver, even if he jackknifes the pin Kawada-style.

But just because they do the Tiger Driver does not mean they did the Pearl River Plunge, which is the question. The Pearl River Plunge was a Tiger Driver with a sitout almost as hard as the Batista Bomb. Ahmed Johnson never did the Pearl River Plunge without the sitout.

The Pearl River Plunge was just a finisher name that Ahmed chose for the Tiger Driver. There was absolutely no difference. Kotaro Suzuki now uses a version to where he doesn't sit out as soon as he drops the arms. He holds them up, stalls for a second and then drops them instead of immediately dropping them after letting go of the arms like the Tiger Driver is usually done. There is basically a lot more emphasis and impact in Kotaro's Tiger Driver than Misawa's way, making it a more believable finisher, as it was only a trademark move for Misawa. It wasn't a believable finisher in most cases.

I still say anyone who doesn't sitout is not doing the Pearl River Plunge, and the question asked was about Ahmed Johnson's Pearl River Plunge, not Misawa's Tiger Driver.

It's like saying the Last Rights is different than the Hero's Welcome.

I admit, I was a mark for this man. I wonder if Big Zeke could move like that. I remember Ahmed used to get sick air on drop kicks and shoulder tackles. Also his no hands over the top rope Tope was also cool.

You do sit out in the Tiger Driver. The technical name for the Pearl River Plunge is the Tiger Driver, which Misawa invented years before Ahmed ever debuted. I don't see what you're getting at.

The real question is why nobody have ever tried bringing back Ahmed's thigh pads.

I loved Ahmed, when he was switched on he was more than just watchable. Shame he turned to crap pretty quick though.
Badass theme too.
