The Lawler trade would make no sense...everyone would rather see JBL do play by play. If you traded Lawler for JBL that would hurt both Raw and Smackdown. JR and JBL would be working too hard trying to outdo one another it would affect both of them. The 2 best annoncers you have need to stay on seprate shows for that reason. The moment Lawler talks during a Vito match everyone won't feel like eating afterwards. "Come on Vito..lets see those Puppies!!" Whose trades are you referring to? I traded Lawler for Matthews, but not to have him replace JBL. He's there to host those bikini contests WWE is so fond of having and to work on Velocity. Or maybe you weren't referring to MY trades. I was refering to yours. As old and boring as Lawler may be now, you can't take him off TV to host webcasts and the very occasional "bikini contest" on SD. If you want to put Mattews on Raw with Ross and Lawler and have a 3 man team to see if Mattews can get over that'd be ok. But trade Mattews for that goofy Todd Grisham not Lawler.

Just to be clear, I'll post my intentions for the wrestlers I traded:
Striker: He would team with McCool, Stevens, and James to form "The Academia."
Mercury: Mercury would become a Scientologist in ECW.
Super Crazy: Crazy would have the same role he had in the old ECW.
Dupree: Same character, different brand.
Test: Again, same character, different brand.
Haas: The technician of ECW. I'd push him the same as Dean Malenko was in the old ECW.
Knox: Knox would become "Outlaw" Mike Knox again and feud with Tatanka. If you know his career, this makes perfect sense.
Sylvester Terkay: Terkay would be a mix of Taz and Angle. He'd destroy EVERYONE on his path to the top.
Torrie: Eye candy. Next.
Ashley: Ashley would be a wrestler in the women's division.
Candice: See Torrie. I might move her back after I feel she's improve enough. I know that she wants to improve.
Jerry Lawler: Lawler would referee bikini contests and host the B shows. Cole and JBL would still be the commentators.
Josh Matthews: JR's new partner and the man that will eventually replace him (but not for a while).
Val Venis: Becomes a JBL-esque heel.
Daivari: Daivari would finally become a full-time wrestler.
Kelly Kelly: See Torrie.
Johnny Jeter: Jeter would be ECW's version of WCW's heel Jericho.
Hardcore Holly: Holly becomes a crazy survivalist.
Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore: Drops the retard persona on-screen and becomes an efficient, cerebral heel.
Damaja/Danny Basham/Security Guard #2: Becomes Damaja again and resumes his OVW gimmick.
John Cena: I'd have Cena lose to some talent so that he doesn't always appear unbeatable. If the fans responded to this, I'd keep him as a face. if they crapped on it, I'd turn him heel.
Chris Benoit: Benoit becomes champion again and would hold the belt for quite a long time. Once I've found the next big star, I'd have Benoit lose to him and symbolically pass the torch.
Shawn Michaels: If Cena turns heel I'd have to keep HBK as a face. However, if Cena stays a face, I'd have Shawn turn. Either way, Shawn would be used to work with young talent and help them have good matches.
Matt Hardy: Matt and Jeff would reform the Hardy Boyz but would also have plenty of singles matches.
The Undertaker: The Undertaker could feud with some new wrestlers, perhaps he could even put over some stars. Taker vs. Umaga seems to be the obvious choice for a feud.
Ric Flair: Flair would be a special attraction. Once he can't wrestle any more he'd make a great manager.

I think that Lawler might be happy with a reduced schedule. especially if he gets paid to just host contests. But there are other ways that I feel he could contribute. He could be a trainer, for instance, and teach wrestlers how to throw realistic worked punches. Perhaps he could even run a farm fed in Memphis.

The only problem I have with that is somedody's gotta be the heel commentator. Mattews and Ross are both faces and just having those two will prolly get boring real fast. If you want to do something like that, at least have Coach join them. At least he's a heel and could counter all the respectable, classy stuff that JR and Mattews would say.

Coach would work at the booth. I agree that there should be a heel in the mix.

For my sheer personal satisfaction:
Batista for Kane, just to see another Kane-Taker feud
Edge for Terkay, whom I can actually see having a decent feud with Umaga. I still haven't seen enough of him to be sure, though
and Jeff Hardy for Lashley, for a Hardy Boyz reunion.
Conveniently, this also allows me to ditch RAW completely.
