I see Miz's whole persona as very similar to Michaels' from the early 90s. Just take a look like at Miz, from his cocky attitude, to the lavish outfits he wears the ring, to the way to carries the title over his shoulder. Also, with the tag team, it is like Big Show is reprising the Diesel role.

Hell no. If anybody is close to Shawn, it would be Morrison although there's a big disparity between the two as it is.

Honestly I don't think anyone should be "the new (insert name here)".
There has never been another Hogan, Rock, HBK, Austin, Bret, Angle, Taker or anyone else and there never will be.
Different eras, personalities, styles. I can't ever see it happening. Just take them as who they are without comparisons. Comparing guys now to guys back then will only dissapoint you when you realize they aren't that guy.

Yes and no. Miz has a similar gimmick and outlook that will likely be compared to HBK. However he will always be diet coke to HBK's classic Coke. Miz has the cocky attitude, the flashiness, and the chick magnet thing but he doesn't have the HBK hate-ability and love-ability to him.
HBK had the ability to play a great heel (He can thank Bret Hart for taking him from very good to great) and a love-able underdog type. As much as I hate the guy for being an unprofessional brat who screwed Bret I respect what the guy did in the ring.
He has in his last run of 2002 till 2010 been on the top 5 big match performers for the WWE. While I like the Miz I see him as a poor man Shawn Michaels if he wants to go that route.
The closest thing we will see to a HBK type is Jericho when he had long hair and was the Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla. But Jericho did do a great job of separating himself from the comparisons.

It's flattering that you're bringing the Miz into the discussion and it shows how highly people think of him right now, but it's way too premature for that talk. The book hasn't been written on him yet. I think he oozes charisma, is constantly getting better, and has the potential to be a top star for years to come, but that's where I'll stop.
I expect big things from Mike Mizanin, but to compare him to HBK at this point is unfair to both of them.

I've grown to like the Miz, which I never ever thought I'd say.
He's a talented charismatic guy that looks to only continue to improve and barring injury or something else will be a star for years to come.
He's no Shawn Michaels.

HBK wasn't just a good talker, like Miz is. But he made you believe everything he said inside the ring, Miz hasn't even come close to that. He's a great young talent, but let's stop comparing him to legends like Rock and HBK. Miz is Miz, and he has a chance to become a huge star in the future.

I actually feel he'll end up being the First Miz as opposed to the Next anything. And like DDP said..that's a Good thing.

Ugh. Nobody is the new anybody. No matter who you compare to anyone, don't expect even an iota of perspective because to someone who saw Shawn when he was 12 or something, you don't get the 30 year old fan, the 12 year old is going to step out to tell you all about the Shawn he knows and loves.
It's cool, everyone falls into this, but I think we forget that the Rock, etc, were not untouchable or magical creatures, they were just humans who had the right skill at the right time at the right place, and to think they can't ever be matched or surpassed is to fall into serious fan blindness.
Am I saying Miz=Shawn? No, and I'd be doing both men a disservice if I was. Miz is the new Miz.

Miz is the first Miz, like Morrison is the first Morrison, Sheamus is the first Sheamus, and Swagger is the first Swagger. Comparing them to guys like Rock, HBK, Piper, and Angle isn't fair to them.
Just their THEIR work speak for themselves.
Oh, but this Show/Miz tag team is very reminiscent of the Kevin Nash/Shawn Michaels tag team in the early 90's though.
