The guy was pretty damn spot on and had me laughing pretty hard at some parts. I did find it kind of odd that he spent the entire interview trashing WWE and TNA but I don't think he once plugged ROH. Seems like it would've been easy enough to say something like "Forget TNA and WWE, if you wanted a good wrestling show you should've watched ROH." don't know if it was mentioned in that edited version, but in the original podcast he plugged ROH, and specifically the Strong/Richards match that air the same night, a bunch of times The one I listened to was on 411mania, I didn't listen to the one posted in this thread, but I didn't hear that. He may have plugged ROH once on the one I heard, but it would've been something minor that I didn't notice. Thanks for the info though.

Funny stuff. And he's right.
The one contention is that ratings would suggest otherwise. Perhaps wrestling is just finding a new audience?

I'd chalk up the ratings to curiosity and people being fed up with the bad product WWE has been putting out for the past year or so. If TNA can go weekly on Monday night's and sustain a higher rating (and build on it), it'd be a different story. It'll also be interesting to see what TNA's rating is this Thursday.

...this is the first time I agreed with the majority of Cornette's opinions, and Jesus he made me laugh a few times too!

He just seems like an obnoxious jerk to me, resigned to the fact that the only thing he has to offer is being an obnoxious jerk.
All these years of work and it's pinacled in you become a 'talking head' on youtube along with all the other losers.
Congratulations Mr Cornette. It's nice that 'dignity' is a word that means little in his household.

On another note, I do find it odd that when most people seemed to be positive about Impact and the recent new advances in the industry, that suddenly everyone now craps all over it because Jim Cornette tells them so.
Call me a cynic but I suspect if Heyman wrote a piece on his website, praising Impact and Raw and whatnot, most everyone would be in 100% agreement with him too.

Cornette has never really been anything special either in front of the camera or behind it. He's kind of an over-grown geek who's kept up with changing trends of the wrestling industry as well as anyone who's been in a race with Usain Bolt. I just don't get what's so appealing about a guy whose only contribution is to trash the contributions of everyone else. I don't see what's different between his bitter ramblings and the bitter ramblings of all the other "the wrestling industry sucks and I was the greatest of all time" crap that we hear from other 'former associates' of the business. He has a right to have an opinion but he seems to trade solely now off of having controversial opinions. I can't respect that and it seems kinda.....jerky.

Question. If he was ranting mostly about WWE, would you feel the same way?

Crazy ranting aside, Cornette is correct(and always has been) in his assessment of the current state of pro wrestling. Another person with a keen eye for the business, who is highly critical of today's wrestling landscape is Jake Roberts. As well as Bruno Sammartino and Larry Zbyszko and plenty of other guys who have been there and done that, and understand the game, and how it should be run. Soft porn and reality TV have nothing to do with pro wrestling. Charisma, strong character development, solid storytelling in and out of the ring, now that's what wrestling used to be about.

This is the first mostly positive Cornette thread I've seen in ages. Most people here seem to hate him.

Actually, it wasn't all negative -- he does seem to respect Raw's production quality and how it helps the product.
But his stuff on TNA was fantastic, especially the bit about the talent getting out of a limo only to be greeted by a snack machine.
I wish the interviewer had gotten him to say more about what he thinks will happen six months down the road.

Obviously Jimmy needed a writer himself on this one. It confuses vulgarity with eloquence and basically is the internet equivalent of an old man standing on his lawn and shaking his fist at a world passing him by. Agree or disagree with his opinions to your heart's content, but the world has passed him by and no amount of cursing or foaming at the mouth will change that.

Cornette has never really been anything special either in front of the camera or behind it. Well, you are (of course) entitled to your opinion, but Cornette is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time, and had a good run as booker with Smoky Mountain Wrestling as well as serving on the booking committee with WCW (granted, during the horrible Herd era, but I would challenge anyone to book well with his interference) and on the creative team with WWF during the '90s. So a lot of people will disagree with you on that one.

He did in the middle of the second part, he said ROH was the only good hour of wrestling on Monday. He said Strong/Richards was great and he was the oldest person on the air and didn't rehash s*** from 12 years ago. Yeah, but anyways, that was freaking hilarious and awesome. I never realized the man cusses so much. The best is when he tells TNA to suck his fudging dick and then just starts repeating the f-bomb.

Tommy Fiero is a giant tool i felt like i should say that. He really is. He's another disciple of Dennis Coraluzzo so he doesn't challenge Cornette on too much (even to play devil's advocate) but if he does, he'll quickly pretend he didn't. That said, this rant was just too damn funny. Cornette having to eat 5 pizzas and 40 pounds of chicken wings to get through Monday night (but I do have a feeling that it's just another Monday for him ), and saying he felt raped and says "F*** You" to Dixie and hopes they all die. There's the rage-a-holic we all know and love.
