Hey!
For anyone who was watching at the time, were any other matches announced prior to the change in the ME after the tag match on SNME? Ive heard they were going with Jake vs. Savage in a cage. Or did they just announce the Hogan Flair match then immediately swerve the fans?

I think Flair vs Hogan was first announced along with maybe Natural Disasters vs Money Inc but I do not remember. The WWF did not swerve us considering there were still like two months or a month and a half away from WrestleMania when Saturday Night's Main Event aired.

What I heard the original plan was to have the following matches that never happened for one reason or another:
Shawn Michaels v Marty Jannetty (didnt happen because Marty got himself arrested)
British Bulldog v the Berzerker (was pulled due to time constraints)
Hogan v Ric Flair (changed due to Hogan wanting to go off to make movies)
Sid Justice v Undertaker (changed to give Hogan the "last match" against Sid
Thats all I heard. My favourie wrestlemania as it was, but would have liked to see the battle of the Rockers at WM and the Bulldog v the Berzerker. The rest was just fine as it was.

Are there any reports of Jannetty's arrest online? I've often heard that Michaels and Jannetty were supposed to face each other, but I've never actually read the story about what happened.

I would imagine based on this card that another Randy Savage-Jake Roberts match would've been on the show too. Interesting note, Michaels-Jannetty was also penciled in for WrestleMania IX as well, also dropped when Jannetty got fired.

Sid Justice v Undertaker (changed to give Hogan the "last match" against Sid . I've heard alot of rumours that Sid was slated to win that match too, has there ever been any confirmation on that?

I don't know about that, but Sid was promised the Main Event at mania when he came to the WWF in 91 (part of his agreement in coming). So no matter if it was Hulk,Flair,Taker or whoever in the main event Sid was going to be the opposition.

This was a very solid Mania but damn if we'd have gotten Hogan/Flair, Sid/Taker, and Shawn/Marty on it I'd say it would've been hands down the best. Pretty sure they'd have put Savage/Roberts on it as well. Good shot Sid would've beaten Taker too so that would've altered a lot of history with there being no Streak.

This scenario easily could've happened if Taker had beaten Hogan in their second match.

The WWF Magazine showed a feature showcasing Money Inc. putting the tag titles up agains Hacksaw and Sgt Slaughter. I was about to post the same thing. Yeah WWF Magazine spilled the beans on a few matches that didn't take place. The tag title match with Money Inc vs Slaughter/Hacksaw And they also had the Natural Disasters vs LOD in a street fight if I remember correctly.

Come to think of it, somewhere I have that WWF mag from early 92, which has Flair on the cover with the belt, surrounded by the five challengers. it has a WM preview and mentions the Slaughter/Hack vs, Money Inc match.

In some ways I think the card was better the way it ended up, but i really regret that Hogan FLair didn't get showcased on a bigger venue, since they had built that one since August and it never got a real blowoff, and especially since it was perfectly booked feud, imo.

In terms of workrate I think we got a better show. In terms of long-term booking, angles coming together, and just good storytelling, I think we wouldve been better off with the original card.

Sounds like a good idea to change Undertaker's match.

I beleive they also shuffled around the 8 man tag as well. I've read somewhere that the New foundation was supossed to be part of it, but Anvil left the WWF and they gave Owen that 30 second singles match.
