The kicking over the piano and, I THINK, the smashing of the mic stand was an intentional part of the show. Billy's yelling, of course, wasn't.

I was lucky enough to see Dave Grohl get into a fight with security at a Foo Fighters show a few years ago! Someone managed to get on the wrong side of security at the show, so one of them decided to give this kid a kicking... Dave wasn't happy about this! He stopped mid-song, put down his guitar and went head-first off stage and starting beating the crap out of the security guy!
He went to the back for a couple of minutes, then came back on stage with the kid who'd been getting a beating and invited him to hang out on stage! After the kid sat down on an amp at the back Dave just picked up his guitar and carried on as if nothing had happened! ;D

I heard somewhere that Jewell cursed out an audience member but her publicist and whatnot fought to keep it quiet.

As much as I love Axl Rose it's clear the guy has unreal expectations of the way people should act when they're being entertained. Can't say I blame him though, itt can't be good for your ego and who knows how a normal person would react to the same behavior.

On October 7, 2000, at the end of the band's show in North Charleston, SC, Criss destroyed his drum kit on stage. Though fans thought it was part of the act, it was in reality an act of frustration on Criss' part. It was his last show on the tour, as he left the band once more and was replaced by Eric Singer in 2001. He rejoined the band in late 2002 and appeared on the Kiss Symphony: Alive IV DVD and CD before departing again in March 2004.

Surprisingly no G.G. Allin yet. Then again when every time you're on stage is a meltdown it just becomes part of the show I guess.
I recall at one of the MTV awards shows, Poison was playing and CC was drunk/high and the band was trying to play one song and CC would play something else. He got fired as soon as they went backstage.

Jim Morrison holds the distinction of being the first rock star ever arrested on stage.
One concert he did he apparently, feeling the audience wouldn't "get it" and just wanted to hear Light my Fire, he proceeded to sing the entire show like Betty Boop. One guy at the show, Jimmy Newell Osterberg thought it was amazing and if Morrison could pull that shit, he could too. He went on to become Iggy Pop.
Which, according to Alice Cooper, the Stooges had one rule, never, ever stop playing. Iggy would knock himself cold on stage and they'd go on playing, Iggy would regain consciousness and they'd keep on going.

I have that concert where Roger Waters freaks out on the audience. I can't say that I blame him with all of the fireworks going off.

The Sex Pistols had several in their brief career, but Sid Vicious doing the old "el kabong" on some dude in Texas with his bass probably takes the cake.
Ryan Adams had quite a reputation for being a drunken mess several years ago (He still may, not sure). Anyhoo, during one show, someone kept telling for him to play "Summer of '69". Apparently, being compared to Bryan Adams is not something Ryan Adams tolerates. He called the guy up to the front of the stage, took 20 bucks out of his pocket, gave it to the guy as a refund, then had security kick him out.

Didn't someone from L7 throw a used tampon at the crowd?

Axl Rose more then likely wins this thread. No one else comes close. My Lord! This is the first time I've seen that, and I'm just amazed. I've always tried to be patient with Axl Rose, not only because he's a talented vocalist and songwriter, but simply because it's clear that he's a disturbed guy with a lot of emotional problems. But that behavior is just awful. So one single guy in the middle of a large audience has a camera, you're going to ruin it for the rest of the people who paid good money to see you? Gimme a break.

language and subject matter in his routine for those easily offended...bobcat was on some stand up show, and got cut off so he basically flips out and just walks off stage.

Like I've said, never underestimate the power of a flamboyant jewish guy in facepaint and platform boots calling you a "schmuck". (Seriously, those lasers were really annoying. I remember when I went to school, some of the kids had 'em. Stupid. I brought a large flashlight once and got back at someone who pointed one in my direction. A-HA!)
BTW, following Kurt's death, Courtney Love had an onstage meltdown almost every time she performed. (Please, no "Courtney killed Kurt" comments, OK? If she did, she probably would've said it already. 'Nuff said.)
