I was thinking to my self after playing so many wrestling games I wondered what was the best? So I came up with this list to determine it. I tried to be fair and some games I despise(Mayhem, Backsatgae Assault, In Your Huuse, Wrestlemania arcade game) so I think I came with a really good list. Anyway I also thought this could be a decent discussion. So enjoy.

I had to go with WCW/nWo Revenge. It was the superior N64 wrestling title.
Everyone who says No Mercy must not have had a copy as screwy as mine were. At random times, the game would glitch and all the created wrestlers and unlocked wrestlers were gone. After putting a lot of work into creating extra wrestlers and unlocking the ones on the game, it always pissed me off that the friggin' thing would glitch. And, I had a few copies of No Mercy, and every damned one of them did it. Just off of that (and the horrendous slowdown during Ladder matches, Rumbles, and Fatal Four Ways or any time more than three weapons were in the ring) No Mercy isn't even close to "the best."
Besides, No Mercy didn't offer anything really new besides the Ladder match. Everyone talks about it like it was the second coming of Christ, but it wasn't that good. In fact, with the minimal additions (and the loss of full entrances), I see No Mercy as the most overrated wrestling game to ever come out. Save a couple of bucks and just buy WCW/nWo Revenge, you get the same amount of fun, and a better roster to boot.

I agree. WCW/NWO revenge doesn't have CAWs, but it has much smoother gameplay, and the roster is pretty kickass anyway.

I honestly liked Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 the best. That game is amazing. It has the same engine as No Mercy but had an amazing roster of japanese roster also had tons of stuff to do I love that game. So amazing! Way better than the roster of No Mercy.

Fire Pro D for Dreamcast. A greater pro wrestling sim has yet to be created IMO.
I love Aki as much as the next person, and I play No Mercy to this day. But aside from superior graphics, I have to give the edge in realism to Fire Pro. More than anything else, it simulates the natural ebb and flow of a great back-and-forth match-- including becoming worn down and tired from performing your own moves (not just from taking those of your opponents) and having to catch your breath.

I never had any problems with my copy of No Mercy and I run a standard N64 without the expansion pack. I was just annoyed since I bought it in late August with my birthday money at K-Mart for $60 and pre-Christmas it was at Boscov's on clearance for $17.99.
I noticed a little slowdown, but not much. The only thing in the game that truly annoys me is the fact that in Survival, you don't get the 10 seconds before the next guy comes out ala the Royal Rumble mode (and the rest of the rumbles dating back to Revenge or maybe World Tour). I could usually eliminate 2-3 guys in those 10 seconds.
Revenge was definitely good, though. I especially liked that there weren't "special" submission holds. I used to love doing battle royals as Brian Adams, just because I could eliminate everyone up to the last guy and then have Adams do an apron powerbomb, making the match end in a No Contest.
Oh, and you forgot WWF Attitude (the sequel for War Zone). It was crappy, though (I made the mistake of buying it... later sold it and War Zone and got a WHOPPING $1.50 for them from Funcoland... back before Gamestop RUINED EVERYTHING.)

Fire Pro Returns for PS2 The latest and greatest of the Fire Pro series. What it lacks in graphical flair is more than compensated for with amazing gameplay and CPU A.I. that WWE games could only dream about. And it has 500 save slots for edits

No Mercy...I still have this
it's damn good you can create a wrestler, has story lines, and you can edit wrestlers that the game has in them

I live FPR and KOCII but sticking with the choices above, I'll go with Pro Wrestling for NES. So simple, so fun.

I voted for Royal Rumble on the SNES. It was the first wrestling game I owned and it was pretty good for the time period. Also Wrestlefest on the arcade was bad ass.

I loved Wrestlefest and WCW/nWo revenge equally. I ruled at both, but Revenge didn't cost me any quarters.

Pro Wrestling was cool on NES and it would make a good movie. Make King Slender lead Heel outside of whoever that last guy was. Amazon and Great Panther can be heels too with Hyabusa StarMan and whoever the other guy was faces.
MY favorite wrestling game ever though was Here Comes the Pain. Better CAW, great roster selection, things in the shopzone that you actually WANT to buy and not doodads to pimp out a clubhouse. George the Animal Steele and Sgt Slaughter as legends, c'mon!
