At the beginning of the event, Gorilla and Heenan were talking about "traffic problems" being the reason for some empty seats. Was that real or was it just a cover for lack of ticket sales? When did they talk about this? I don't recall hearing it.

Well, 62,000 people in a parking lot probably isn't going to cause things to go very smoothly.

I was strictly a WWF guy up until 1996 when the NWO started. I remember around this time seeing those WCW trading cards and thinking how cheesy the pictures looked compared to the WWF, WCW footage always looked like it was running 5 years behind the WWF. Which is funny considering how when WCW got good it was the exact opposite. The WWF stuff looked about 5 years behind the WCW stuff. That always bothered me. WCW's shows looked like they were taking place in the here and now while WWF's shows looked like they taped them in 1993 and were just now showing them.

I thought I read something a couple of years back explaining what happened. I think what Heenan said was actually true. Alot of people screwed up on their arrival time. I think they thought the show was starting an hour later than it did. The majority made it on time but around a thousand were still farting around in the parking lot. It was a good thing they decided to have the lOD interview after the first match. That damn thing ran for a good 10 minutes and it gave people enough time to get to their seats. That would suck big time to be an hour late for the ppv and miss out on the first three matches.
