I got one:
What if Bob Backlund had retained the WWF Title when he wrestled Diesel in MSG in 1994?

FYI:
An all-new, never before published RTB drops next week. Really. Wake your neighbors, call your pets.
Jed f'n Shaffer ~Next after that: the Armchair Booker editions that you all requested.

Well, I woke my neighbor and called my pet. My neighbor punched me in the eye, and my dog licked himself and then walked off. THANKS, JED!!!! ;D

Actions taken based on suggestions by Jed Shaffer, Re-Writing The Book and it's various and sundry subsidiaries are not the responsibilty of said mentioned parties.

I suppose I can't argue that logic.

Okay, question for my readers and friends ...
I've started the next RTB, the voted-on-and-agreed-upon "Armchair Booking" edition. For the first installment, I'm taking charge of WWE Creative. Now, keep in mind that this means I do NOT have the power to hire and fire. That's Talent Relations.
So, bearing that in mind ... I've done roster tinkering and whatnot already, but I want to know ... what are some crucial issues you think that need to be addressed? I'm not promising I'll use your idea, but if there's something big, I don't wanna miss it.
Jed f'n Shaffer ~This is not where you say "[wrestler X] should be World Champ on Raw!", by the way.

Well, off the top of my head-
Making the minor titles mean something again. The US and IC belts mean jack and shit respectivly right now, the tag belts need work, and as for the other two minor belts, one's dead and the other is practically. Stop the wishy-washy "We have a brand extension but we ignore it". Either make it so that wrestlers stick to one brand, end it, or work out a compromise that isn't so damm lame. ECW needs a second title. At least, I think it does. Continuality.
But really, I'm sure your stuff will be that much better than what they do already, and that's sorta sad, in a way.

Better use of the tag team division. There are lots of random pairs that would be better than Rhodes/Holly. Some they've already used, like Holly/Haas, Rhodes and Murdoch might also be good.

What if FOX had agreed to air WCW programming? I realize there's tons of ideas but here's one I liked. I don't know about FOX but after re-reading Death of WCW, there was mention of an NBC deal that would air a prime-time special (like Clash of the Champions) against WWF pay-per-views. Anyway, the first one was supposed to air February 14th, 1999 against the WWF's St. Valentine's Day Massacre. So I was wondering...what if that special had aired? What would the matches have been? Would the show have been any good? What would its effect be on the WWF pay-per-view/Monday Night Wars? Would it have halted WWF's momentum? etc.

I don't know if this has been asked yet or not, but what if WCW folded in 1992 when the Turner execs suggested it?

the only two that haven't been mentioned that were stored in my head are: What if Shawn Michaels never threw Marty Jannetty through the Barber Shop window? What if Tony Schiavonnie never made the Mick Foley butts in the seats comment?

I hit a bit of a stall on the first edition (WWE). I'm kinda working through it. The "booking" part of it is forcing me to keep a lot of irons in the mental fire, and while I don't wanna shortchange the section, I don't want it growing out of control. I'd say late this month, just to cover my ass.
Jed f'n Shaffer ~I don't even know how I'm gonna make sense of the TNA edition. Good lord. That'll be like eating soup with a fork.

It could help to make it less detailed and more like a recap, sort of "Joe comes out, bitching about Karen Angle's pregnancy taking time from his title defense against Super Eric", that style.

Oh, believe me, it's MUCH less detailed then the normal RTB's. Brief overviews, with a little more detail expulsion on the PPVs. It's only stalling because there's a lot to keep up with.
Jed f'n Shaffer ~Praise be that TNA and ROH have smaller rosters. And I can play with them more.

Ah, right. I must admit, trying something like this makes you admire that writer who had everything on a giant flow chart that much more.

Perhaps you could do the Armchair Booking in two seperate parts. One would be improving the companies as much as possible, and the other seeing how much worse you can make it. Eh? EH?
