I liked Hogan's Leg Drop finisher. He got a huge pop from the audience whenever he did it. Same with Ultimate Warrior's gorilla press slam running splash finisher.

Simple yet effective.
What I didn't like growing up, was the Hulking up. Made no sense.

I thought it was good
I don't think it would hurt as much as say a strong lariat, but it looked good and was certainly effective.
Million times more impressive than such wonderful finishers as the People's Elbow and the Worm.
Besides for the time period it was awesome.
I always thought Warrior's finishing sequence was pretty week. His gorilla press was impressive at first, but often looked sloppy. His big splash was also pretty lame. Later on his shoulder tackles/big splash combo was probably even worse.

I don't know why, but I liked it UNTIL the tag match with Hogan/Warrior vs. Perfect/Genius from SNME in 1990. Hogan gave it to the Genius, but Genius was on Hogan's left, and Hogan apparently can only give the legdrop with this right leg, and ended up dropping both legs on Poffo. When he did that, I thought "Why doesn't he do that all the time for double the impact?" And from that point on, I never liked the Atomic Leg Drop... because I had seen the SUPER NUCLEAR Leg Drop.

Someone asked if he did the leg drop in AWA. Yes, he started all of it, Big Boot/Leg Drop and the No No No finger in air/HulK Up. I thought that by the time he reached the WWF it got old.

I understand the logic, but never liked the legdrop (or Hogan). Plus, Bobby Eaton's Alabama Jam was much better

As others have said, I always looked at it as "300 pound man drops leg across your throat". Ouch.
As a kid, I think I also justified being a good move by thinking that, clearly, Hogan had "perfected" the move better than anyone else, like why Roddy Piper's sleeper was better than anyone else's.

Never had an issue with it. It's no less believable than Sweet Chin Music or most lariat finishers. Not to disagree with the whole premise of this thread, but I wholly disagree with this statement. The Sweet Chin Music is a kick directly to the chin, and the Lariat is a guy full on slamming his arm into your throat. All the legdrop is is a bent leg dropping on a guy's chest. Hogan rarely ever even got near the throat, even with suspension of disbelief fully in effect. What matches were you watching again?

It's actually a combo finisher 3 punches=>Big Boot=>Leg Drop I always will mark for the Hulk-a-Combo Or...as I like to call it...the first few minutes of just about any Undertaker match.

Hated it... but I never liked Hogan and I was a bit too young to get touched by the biggest moments of Hulkamania when it happened and he was falling out of favor when I started watching.

Gonna disagree as well. Assuming the moves are not done within to protect the person taking the move but honestly intending to hurt them.....a kick to the jaw is gonna cause a problem. Same for a full force forearm to the head/throat/chest coming from a big individual. A leg drop would hurt as well as it's a 300lb guy dropping all his weight onto your throat/chest/head/face. It's all gonna hurt...but the severity from a kick or lariat seem worse to me and much more practical. My problem is that it's not a 300 pound drop it's a 20 pound drop at most, and even then not really, the leg isn't really coming down with much force even if it was being attempted as a legit move. Hogan's not sitting on you, he's draping his leg across your chest or head. Yeah, it might sting, but he's sitting on the mat first, then his leg is falling lightly. At least elbow drops or knee drops had a hard point making contact, I just never bought a leg drop as a finisher. A kick or lariat are tons more damaging, and logical. You can't compare with the light draping of the leg vs. kicking a guy in the chin or slamming across their windpipe with your forearm. This was essentially a move that highlights the theatrics of wrestling. As a move, it was very successful because the crowd popped huge for it, but it never presents any legit threat to the person taking it. It's a perfectly safe move, but the presentation was so great that it worked really well.

The only time I liked the leg drop was when Hulk leg dropped on Macho Man at WrestleMania V. I thought Savage's famous elbow was enough to pin Hulk Hogan but not at this one.

I don't mind when I see it in his early WWF days, but he just got sloppier and sloppier with it in as the years went on. It is a believable finisher when done right, much more believable than the People's Elbow, The Worm and Five Knuckle Shuffle but it doesn't take much to make it look weak.

Don't like Hogan. Never did. Never really thought about if I liked his finisher or not. It suited him. I hated the Hulking up and the whole "not today brother" thing that led up to it. I always felt like I was watching a cartoon.
Anyway on topic. It's fine for him.
