Probably the first example I can think of.

Does this not look like the funniest movie made in years? Does it not look like the movie made for Star Wars fans by Star Wars fans? Did if have to come and go from theaters like a movie of the week? I actually liked fanboys a lot but it was a funny movie only if you really liked star wars. It captured the spirit of the fans and had its moments. But if you weren't at least a somewhat big Star Wars fan you weren't really going to like the movie based on its comedy alone. All in all it should have been better as it was a great concept with ok execution but maybe it just wasn't as great a concept as I thought but the execution was a secondary element? Either way production problems did hamper the movie big time.

What the hell is with Amidala's voice in that? Stand-in ADR? The Last Airbender was easily the first that popped into my head. Luckily by the time I saw it all the negative reviews were already out so I had zero expectations and was able to enjoy it a little bit. Yeah it HAD to be a stand in for Amidala. I mean Amidala WAS only 14 years old in the movie, so you know, making her sound 14 would be better. I mean, I'm glad the went with the voice they did in the final version of the film, but when you really think about it, it doesn't exactly fit a 14 year old, it's too deep.

Seriously as soon as the evanesence music hits it's pushes the trailer over the edge to epicness...sadly apart from the trailer this movie was very painful to watch.
But i will say the extended version with all the cut scenes put back in make it a better movie but still nothing above mediocore IMO.

Yeah, I'll second this one. At least Nolan is supervising the next one and I hope to heck it's a good one. I'll add this: Just a reminder that this topic ended one page ago. I mean what could be a more hyped, more epic, and more disappointing trailer?

Brilliant.

Have to agree with Godzilla 98. One of the most disappointing movies of my life.

Yeah there's no denying the shittyness of this movie but Steve Perry's cover of "I Stand Alone" gives it a dramactic edge.

here's my top 3:
Watchmen
okay now this looked awesome the scenes made it seem like Snyder really got the movie and the Smashing Pumpkins song fit perfectly but the actual movie was an utter turd and the sceenwritters, actors and director total effed up the mood and theme and meaning of the original source material. Awful.
Now i wouldn't say this was the worst movie but very disappointing movie in my view. The trailer makes it seem funny and good chemistry with everyone in the movie and Devotcka's "How it Ends" with in the trailer makes it look like amazing. However instead we got an average, mostly boring, not really funny apart from Eugene Hutz's lines and the plot points made little sense and just wasn't anything special at all.
Now my last one is Where the Wild Things Are again like the last two has awesome music and make it seem epic and amazing and starts off with a song by Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and than goes to The Arcade Fire's "Wake Up" (one of my favorite songs) and really makes the scenes look really good. However the actual movie was weak and unimpressive. Yes visual it was good but lacked any plot. Just random crap that didn't matter and weird stuff. Very crappy movie. And yes I know the book was very short and had almost no writing words, but so did Cloudy with a Chance of meatballs and that was awesome, entertaining and still kept with the general plot of food falling from the sky while i'm not even sure what the message of WTWTA was.
Anyway thats my top 3 all great trailers with awesome songs that movies were so disappointing.

Probably the first example I can think of. I saw somewhere that Toys was to be Berry Levinson's dream movie, and they present the treaser trailer like this........WOW, I would have fired someone.
