I don't know. I'd still want to live forever. Still sounds better than being dead.

They forgot the fact you outlive your family.

They forgot the fact you outlive your family. They mentioned that in their list of super powers that would suck(immortality was one of them).

Some of that reminds me of the vampires in the vampire chronicle books, people are so attached to their times that after 2 or 3 hundred years they pretty much go crazy longing for it to be like it was. It's like mid life crisis multiplied by centuries. This also reminds me Highlander is on in half an hour.

I think it'd be very boring. This, it freaked me out when I was a kid and I realised Heaven's FOREVER, and realised at some point, you'll have done everything as much as you wanted and still have forever left.

The Kane novels by Karl Edward Wagner have a character who is immortal. His biggest problem tends to be boredom and loneliness. He's lived so long that he's "seen it all".
He does have some luck in battle though - since he's been around so long he can pretty much anticipate how people will fight because he has "the perspective of centuries" (a quote from the books).
They're pretty amazing books.
The issue with this article is that it's based on our current medical abilities. I am sure that medicine would be highly evolved by the time you got to the years 2200, 12000, etc...so you should be ok (unless the world suffers some horrible catastrophe).

Remember the Twilight Zone episode Long Live Walter Jameson? There is an answer, "It is death that gives this world meaning, we all love a rose because we know it will be gone, whoever loved a stone?"

The idea of living forever terrifies me. I'm glad it just stops, to be honest.

Remembering the alien in the Hitchhiker's Guide (I forget which book) who travelled across the galaxy insulting every living person, because he was immortal and hated living. I need to re-read those books.

I'm sad to say I used to watch this all the time ... And you best learn your skills, boy ... ;D I seem to recall an episode of this show where MacLeod was trying to help a fellow Immortal who's present day cover was that of a rock star, and he kept OD'ing on drugs every night, dying, and then coming back to life an hour or so later.

One thing I've always wondered about immortality: Does it prevent you from getting hurt or maimed? I know that no matter what happens, you can live forever, but can you, I don't know, get your arm chopped off or something?
