I like how the list has "All songs by Rage Against the Machine" And nothing of value was lost. *tapes fists* But anyways, yea... Slayer's "God Hates Us All" dropping on that day was crazy.

It's kind of funny that "A Day in the Life" was banned, because that was the song the CBS Orchestra played when Letterman came back on TV. He was the first major comedy entertainer to do so. This Starbucks ad was pulled in 2002

I remember after the attacks, our local rock radio station started playing regularly the Stroke 9 song from Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back "Kick Some Ass" almost hourly. We went to a rally to support the Red Cross and donate supplies, and they were there, playing the song on a loop. I found that...slightly disconcerting.

Also released on 9/11: The soundtrack to Glitter and Nickelback's breakthrough, Silver Side Up. That second part is almost as big a tragedy as the attacks.

You know what I really miss is "I wanna take you on a rollercoaster" being used for EVERY GODDAMN TRAILER.

I remember the attacks not impeding me a bit from picking up Suspiria on release day, though in my defense it was a Limited Edition.

This Starbucks ad was pulled in 2002 See I never understood the controversy with that ad. Had I not seen it compared to the 9/11 attacks I certainly wouldn't have thought the same thing

Ryan Adam's biggest hit, "New York, New York" had a bit of extra weight added to the video after the events of 9/11:

I just remember a bunch of action movies being delayed because no one wanted to see anything blowing up.

Not to sound insensitive or anything, but I've never got peoples reactions to tragedies.
I know seeing Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" may sound bad but its not as if they made it as an attack, if anything wasn't it made before?? Just like Machine Head didn't intentionally release "Crashing Around You" around that time. And while the NYC Cops obviously did a good job on 9/11, was it really worth leaving it off albums??
Sorry to possibly hijack the thread but its something I've wanted to ask before (mainly about the Chris Benoit situation) and this seemed like the best opportunity.

I think people have good intentions and feel they would rather err on the side of "don't offend anyone." Intent takes a backseat to effect. I think pulling the Coup album cover a few posts back was the right move as after 9/11, the idea of blowing up the Twin Towers takes on an entirely different connotation. It's about perception and prepping for reaction. I'm curious, before we continue because I think this topic warrants discussion (Strictly on 9/11 grounds, not Benoit), but how do you feel about the pulling of the Coup artwork?

I think it's appropriate. Like you said, it's pretty straight forward. Two people blowing up the Twin Towers.

I didn't understand the "Bleed American" change that Jimmy Eat World had to do. In their case, I would call it as "I bleed American!"
