I have never understood why people like big gold. It is just big and gold. Nothing stands out and just looking at it you can't see any of the writing. I have always found it ugly. I put it up there with the spinner as far as ugly belts go. I love the WWF tag belts. I think why people like the big gold so much is because it shows that you are the top champ in said promotion or brand, in WWE's case. I look at the World Title and say that means more because it's the bigger belt (sometimes lmao) and has more gold, that and I am a fan of the history of the World Title. Probably a stupid way to explain it haha But by that logic everyone should love Cena's blinged out gold and diamonds world title when it gets a lot of hate.

Not that they are necessarily bad or good, but the new PWG Tag Team belts have been unveiled. I figured this would be the best place to ask someone like Neal Snow if he knows who made these belts. They look to be sort of replica-thin, unless it's just a bad photo.

Those are replica thin belts using designs stolen from Reggie Parks and they will be held responsible. PWG should be ashamed of themselves for doing business with a scam outfit like Wrestle Warehouse.

Directly from the Reggie Parks' NWA National, NWA TV, 1984 and 1985 WWF designs. These are copyrighted designs. The makers of the PWG belts STOLE the design. This is not a small thing.

Rmember that WB belt that Neal made. It was pretty cool.
Do you draw your ideas out first? What's the process? Do you make the molding plates yourself?

Do you make the molding plates yourself? No, I buy mine from the good folks at Play Doh. Why does everyone assume that the belt plates are made by using molds? That practice died in the 1980's. Just about every real belt made nowadays utilizes acid-etching. Using molds/casts leads to nothing but poorly structured belts that lack the kind of strength and details that an acid-etched belt offers.

Mainly because people haven't really been told about the new ways of making belts for a long while?

Not exactly a new way. Acid-etching has been around for hundreds of years. Only a few belt crafters used casts, and that was mainly in the 1970's. For most of the classic belts we grew up with since 1980 acid-etching was the way it be's done (or in the case of the original NWA big gold belt, it was hand carved by a rodeo belt buckle maker in Las Vegas).

I just figured there was some kind of mold for reproduction purposes.

Loved the IC Belt of the late 80's and 90's. Especially when Warrior and HBK used to have the Coloured Straps with them, Yellow, White, Blue etc

I really had no idea, either. I'm not sure many fans even wonder how to make belts. Cool stuff.

The ECW TV title, no one ever mentions it but I thought it was awesome. The first one, not the second one so much

The wwf, intercontinental and tag team title belts of the 80s and 90s will always be the perfect trio for me, the design, prestige, everything about them. I like the attitude version of the world title too. Have to love big gold too of course.
