It's funny how WWF was able to take really good heel mean looking wrestlers such as The Sheepherders(Bushwackers), Steele, and Kamala and turn them all into jokes. lol

You didnt just put Cena on the same level as Hogan and Austin....
and John Cena could never wish he was half as good as the Macho Man.

I did, as the main star of his generation, he is. Is he as successful? Hell no, but he's the embodiment of this era like Hogan was for Rock n Wrestling, and Austin was for Attitude. Macho's more a HHH/Randy Orton, the number 2 guy.

and John Cena could never wish he was half as good as the Macho Man. He couldn't even WISH for it? Would God strike him down in mid-prayer or something?

Cena is really not that bad. Is he as good as Macho, of course not. It's not like the guy is completely unskilled though.
I haven't seen the Macho/Steele match in ages, but I remember not being terribly impressed with it.

Not to me, I loved that match! What was wrong with it? I don't think Steele was as different after the babyface turn as people are making him sound either. He still made Savage eat turnbuckle filling. And then Savage started throwing chairs around. I remember as a kid, sitting there like a mark going "why doesn't the ref disqualify these guys?!"

I wonder what kind of IC champion George Steele would be. Also, Liz having enough of Savage's abuse and go with him. "If Animal Steele wins the Intercontinental title, he wouldn't know what to do with it. He'd probably eat it." - Jesse Ventura, on commentary.

Let's be thankful there was no internet back then, I'd hate to think what the thoughts of the IWC would be about the year long feuds that was common if it existed back then.

This quote has two of the reasons Ventura was my favorite color man ever! 1. The use of a guy's nickname as his first name. Hitman Hart. Hacksaw Duggan. Dragon Steamboat. It just sounds so cool. I liked how he always used to just call Savage "Macho" as well. 2. His ability to follow up his own rhetorical question with an insult.

Thanks, I love that quote.
But no, the feud wasn't a complete waste. Steele was a bigger guy - albeit, not very bright - and it showed the world Savage didn't just beat "smaller" guys like Tito Santana. Proper build, there was a bigger pay-off than just winning the belt, which George didn't really show much interest in.

The feud did wonders for Savage: it established him as the crazy, smaller guy that could very well get the big belt off Hogan by dint of his quickness, tenacity and willingness to do _anything_ to win. It also put Elizabeth on the map as WWE's first "valet/manager" (Moolah worked WM 2 but had been a wrestler herself), and as a marketable commodity - her poster was one of the best-selling images available back then.

Jesse Ventura is the best color guy ever for Pro Wrestling,.
Thats not opinion, I believe it is fact.
Yeah, Heenan was funny and solid like Lawler in the mid 90s but for the total package, Ventura had it all, even the voice.
Jess outsmarted Monsoon so many times I cant even count. And it is supposed to be the other way around.
