CM Punk will wrestle in the birthplace of sXe next week.
I hope to dear God they take him 930 F St, and have him cut a promo about how the 930 Club was the place were straight edge came to be and talks about Ian MacKaye and Minor Threat. Since they're actually playing up the sXe thing, it'd be cool to have a promo like that with a little history on the idea.

It would be cool, but more than likely, we'll get a promo of Shannon Moore sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
I still can't figure out why they held CM off this week's show, and had him cut a promo hyping his second match. Hell, that load Knox has had a match every week since he debuted!

Knox is also in an on-going angle... CM Punk is not... Although I do agree that he should've been on the show...

Straight edge was born out of the mid/late 90's DC hardcore scene. Ian MacKaye was the head of the movement, the idea is that you get more from life from living without drugs, alcohol, and sex (for lust, not love). It was central towards the development of the American view of hardcore punk music. The 930 Club, before it was bought by clear channel and moved to the old Radio Music Hall was a dingy little club on F St where the biggest and most influential DC hardcore bands played. It was also an easy place to score coke for the non-sXe. Ian MacKaye is also the guy that founded Dischord Records and was in Fugazi.

Whaaaaat? you're about ten years off the mark there, edit quick!!
The idea of Punk cutting a promo about Hardcore/Straight Edge in DC is pretty funny, i'd like to see it happen, only if he reminded everyone that Bad Brains are the best band of all time and no one else will ever ever ever get near them. ever.

I'd rather he didn't, that'd be a good way to make a lot of people tired of him really quick. The last thing I want to see is him turn it into some scenester thing. Have it just be part of his persona, not something to spraypaint on buildings.

I also would rather he didnt. I wish he would just move the straightedge thing to the back burner. There was already enough teenagers claiming straightedge from his ROH/Indy days, I cant imagine if WWE marks jump on the bandwagon. Its hard enough being straightedge right now, with the dudes who look like girls, claiming edge, then breaking, then claiming again.
Straightedge is not supposed to be main stream, or takin lightly. If Punk actually cared about the true straightedge movement, he would chill out a little bit.

WWE doesn ;t do stuff like that Smarks sadden me Cause you know there aren't any sXe marks out there in DC that watch wrestling going "man, when Punk comes here, how coool would it be if he acknolwedged the history of the city in his lifestyle?" Just knowing information doesn't make you a smark.

I get enough history lessons watching Tatanka documentaries on Smackdown, I'd rather not get a history of straight edge lecture.

I'd dig it. Not anything I haven't heard or seen before, but it would just be cool to see some of my favorite bands on television for once.
I still say Punks music should be "Straight Edge Revenge" by Project X "I'm as straight as the line you sniff up your nose And I'm as hard as the booze that you swill down your throat And I'm as bad as the shit you breath into your lungs And f*** you up as quick as the pill on your tounge!"
How isn't that his music?

How isn't that his music? he'd have to run to the ring very fast, the songs over in about four seconds!

Who cares about Straight Edge?
Just let Punk show what he can do in the ring. No gimmick needed.
