I'll say this.
In 2009 Rey was easily WWE's worker of the year. No one in the company had as many show stealing matches as him that year.

Mysterio vs Malenko was awesome! I always found it painfully ironic that in WCW Rey Mysterio had the same entrance music as Loch Ness.

...Anybody want to gif/cap the Mysterio getting his knee beaten thing? I want to have that for future reference. Hey man, I don't care for having him on my TV anymore either, but that's just tacky and sick, and it's pretty damn close to wishing injury on him if you ask me, which I thought was against the rules here.

I was thinking: "Is it his birthday?" Then I pressed the Date button on my watch: "6 19". LOL. Don't say that date!!!

Considering he's the de facto top babyface on Smackdown at the moment, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic that Rey will actually be booked well during this championship run. He's certainly earned it.
Regardless of anyone's opinions of him, the fact remains that Rey's the antithesis of everything Vince McMahon wants to push in a top star: he's a short, mask-wearing Mexican cruiserweight who stayed loyal to WCW until the promotion folded. That Rey has made it this far, and gotten himself as over as he is, is a tribute to his talent, because you can be damn sure no one in power backstage wanted to see him become one of WWE's top babyfaces, nor did the bookers do him any favors until after he'd become a massively successful draw.
I'm happy to see that he's achieved so much in a company devoted to promoting an image of huge, musclebound strongmen, and Rey's popularity is going to open more doors for other smaller performers, like Bourne and Daniel(son).

Okay, I know this isn't a popular thing to say around here, but I think Rey is awesome. He has consistently good matches, and he is popular. He really deserves the reign now, and I hope he gets a good title reign.
The important thing though, is that he makes a lot of people happy, especially kids. I know he wins a lot, but it never kills anybody's careers, like some seem to think.

I'd celebrate if the honor was awarded posthumously. ;D
