I know what you're thinking, anothe rant on no blood, no cursing, yadda yadda. Frankly, I don't care much about that honestly. The part that drives me nuts is the constant on screen references to it. Anytime someone is about to say something "non-pg" there's someone there to calm them down and say "hey, we're tv-pg now, none of that!"

It annoys me whenever something slightly suggestive happens on the show, about ten people on the forum mockingly go "PG!!" or "That's not PG!" etc.

They mention the phrase "WWE Universe" way too much during a broadcast. Next time you watch Raw, try to count how many times they say it.

They postponed a show down here because of the Saints parade. They had on the website something like, Members of the WWE Universe we apologize (blah blah blah). They can't even say "ticket holders." Everytime they refer to the fans it has to be WWE Universe.

Though in quite a lot of cases it can make a match look quite real and authentic and more legit, I'm not the biggest fan of the referee stoppage when someone is busted open hardway. Appart from that, I think I've adjusted to the style they're offering at the moment. The fact that these guys can do an Extreme Rules match or a Chamber or Cell match etc, and not be able to rely on continuous usage of weapons like they used to and a ton of blood, and they still make it a damn good match, to me, is a testament to how skilled they are.

Even in the Hogan era up until 1997 when Attitude started, it wasn't encouraged but you were allowed to bleed on occasion, hardway or for something really dramatic.
Are kids in more need of protection now than 20 years ago?

Nothing from the "PG era" has annoyed me so far, except for when people on-screen bring up it's PG. It's done to be funny but it just isn't. Also, the whole "that isn't pg", "they won't be able to do that cause they're pg" talk on the internet is annoying me more than the actual product itself. It's not the Brady Bunch. And I don't get the big deal about WWE Universe either. So they say it instead of fans, so what? |
