Let's ignore for a moment the fact that the current HD Set is only around two years old and unlikely to be going anywhere anytime soon.
It's been somewhat of a tradition every time a set's about to be replaced for it to be destroyed in some fashion, whether it's from Jericho being gored through it, Triple H burying it with his sledgehammer, or it collapsing on Mr. McMahon.
The first Nexus riot would've been a great opportunity to damage the titantron to upgrade it some more or what have you, since they already destroyed the hell out of ringside. Heck, they could've done like they did when Jericho turned heel, have them damage the titantron and then have it still 'damaged' next week, like the Obscenely Destroyed Jeritron 5000 was on the Highlight Reel.
Alternatively, Alberto Del Rio could have driven a slightly used Rolls Royce through it. (I wouldn't damage a new one, though it'd certainly piss people off.)

Big Show "pulling it down" and Austin cutting it is still my favorite. As for how I would like to see it go, have Kane set it on fire in a display of his powers.

Vince announces that he has an announcement to make, and he wants all wrestlers and personnel out in the ring at the end of the show.
So all of the wrestlers, accept HHH, line up in the ring, and up to the titantron. Vince's face comes on the tron and he goes maniacal, about how he now owns all of sports and entertainment, that this is his utopia, all will bow to him.
HHH runs through the crowd, down up the ramp, being chased by security. He stops. Swings sledgie and throws him at the screen, it explodes in the wrestler's shocked faces.
Then text appears on the screen:
On January 24th World Wrestling Entertainment will introduce HHH: From Blue Blood to Bad Blood. And you'll see why 2011 won't be like 1984.
