The bigger problem I have with Rey threads is that they always end in pointless hostility like this. Seriously, Rey discussion now inspires more flames than Benoit discussion. Rey is WWE Forum's equivalent of "TNA is gonna expand and rival WWE" "NO ITS NOT" from the TNA board. People are so entrenched that the "discussion" is pointless and leads to flaming. Its not like people are open minded and tolerant on this issue as they are on "Should Wade Barrett be champ?" "How could Eli Cottonwood get over?" "Was WWE's ECW a good idea" or myriad other discussion topics. I seriously think the Rey flames are gonna increase to a point where the mods will have to ban Rey discussion if it keeps going at the current level. Unlike Hornswoggle (the last thing WWE did that hit the board's anger nerve) Rey is VERY unlike to be depushed. I have to agree with you here. The flames and flaming is really becoming ridiculous. It definitely is, but it won't lead to discussion of one of WWE's most prominent wrestlers getting banned. It'll lead to warnings and bannings for people who can't learn to discuss something they have a high amount of passion for, either way, like adults.

If you don't like Rey, that's fine. There's no accounting for taste. It just gets me when people pretend like they have rational reasons for doing so when the reasons given don't stand up to the remotest scrutiny.
And yes, plenty of people who weren't actually heavyweights have won the world heavyweight title. If you think that Shawn Michaels was actually 220 pounds, there's a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. On that note, would you guys buy the 619 more as a finisher if Rey slapped his thigh to make it sound more impactful like Shawn did with the Sweet Chin Music?

Pure and simple - I'm tired of his presence. He needs to go away for along time and come back with something fresh.
I don't hate him. I just don't want to watch him anymore.

He's tolerable, but doesn't need to be world champ and beating big men like Kane.

At the end of the day though, people shouldn't have to justify their dislike of a character, whether we're talking wrestling, TV, books, movies, or whatever. If a character annoys you, then you just simply don't like them. No one owes anyone a reason as to why they don't like Rey. ...I'm honestly a little bewildered when people say this kind of thing. First of all, you do HAVE a reason. Any given thing you feel towards a character or performer (or anything), there's a reason for it. Furthermore, those reasons can be bad. If I were to say, "I don't like, Hulk Hogan because he was a member of Mussolini's Blackshirts," then that would be a bad reason to dislike that particular man, because it's not true. Also, if I were to say that I dislike HHH because he's such a safe worker and never injures anyone, that would also be a bad reason because that's a positive quality. So like... it's certainly not beyond the pale to turn the topic towards why people feel a certain way about a guy like Rey, because... that's the conversation we're having. There would be nothing else to talk about. Me, I talk about the reasons people have for disliking Rey because I think the main one (that small people shouldn't win fake fights against big people) is mighty stupid. You can disagree, or you can have different reasons and my whole assumption doesn't apply to you, or you can get tired of the whole conversation, but I don't understand this reaction of "NUH UH I DON'T HAVE TO SAY WHY I FEEL THIS WAY" like the people who disagree with you are making some kind of authoritarian demand.

I make no secret about the fact that I find Kane to be a worthless lump at this point in his career. Yet somehow WWE managed to do the impossible. They have me rooting for Kane on a weekly basis, hard. I want him to squash Rey in the worst way. Just end this little s***'s reign of terror. I beg of you Big Red Machine. Well said. Rey Mysterio has outlived his gimmick by so much, it's not even funny. Agreed, I'm just sick of Super Rey Rey these days. At least Cena is (at times) funny & entertaining. While Rey is just stale & unbelievable in his performance.

Remember in WCW when they had him take off his mask? Thats when I knew someday in the future a few people just might get tired of this guy. He's booked so bad sometimes.
It's like WWE tries to defy the laws of wrestling character physics if there is such a thing. They think they can still have him portrayed as the underdog and yet have him hardly EVER lose match. I wonder what the reasoning is? Maybe...
WWE booker 1: Rey is winning alot of matches? You think he still has the underdog image?
WWE booker 2: OF COURSE he still has the underdog image even with the wins!
WWE booker 1: How?
WWE booker 2: Cause he's ****ing short that's why!
WWE booker 1: Oh yeah.

Which is why I'm not so sure that is the main reason. It's pro wrestling -- do comic fans complain when Spider-Man defeats the Rhino?

Rey's first World Title run was pathetic. He was booked to lose every week and people complained. Now he's winning every week and people complain.
The answer: book him in the middle. It's not that hard to figure out, and I don't understand why he's being booked like he is now.

I have been a Rey Mysterio fan since I can't even remember. I think we should all respect what he has done and back off him. The man has put his body, soul, life into this business and still puts on as good of a match than anyone in the business. Yes, he might be "dominant" over all other superstars, but hasn't he earned it? The man has done it all, from crusierweight too WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION! Rey should get all out respect, my opinion, my HUGE opinion!

I'm sick of Rey. I'm also sick of Undertaker. I'm not sick of either, but I'm already sick of Ted Jr. and he's only been there 3 years max.

Punk, Jericho are smaller, but they're not ridiculously tiny like Mysterio. Plus, those guys can actually cut a decent promo. The Harlem Globetrotters don't really play competitive basketball, but they don't have Emmannuel Lewis out there playing center either, they make it look plausible. Manny Pacquiao could technically go after the Heavyweight Boxing title, but it's never gonna happen. Rey beating a bigger guy here and there would be fine, but why push a tiny, gimpy-kneed little man who can't even cut a decent promo like Superman (or Mighty Mouse)?

Guys like HBK, C.M. Punk, Jericho are smaller, but they're not ridiculously tiny like Mysterio. ? I don't get this. So, it's not the RELATIVE size difference between Mysterio and his opponents (remember, Show's bigger than Swagger about as much as Swagger is bigger than Rey), it's just that Rey is small and... people don't like small? If that's the case, then you can't make the plausibility argument (which is good, since it's ludicrous to combine plausibility and pro wrestling), or else it's very quickly going to lead you to saying The Big Show should win every match and be champion all the time. So if it's not plausibility, what is it? Why do people get so infuriated GRAAGH A VERY SMALL MAN WINS A LOT OF FAKE FIGHTS.

While I realize a lot of the problems with Rey are due to the booking, his matches do nothing for me either (average Mysterio match - he gets his ass kicked, trip / hurricanrana out of nowhere, 619, s***ty splash, win) and based on Ziggles / the AAA thing / the complaints about being suspended he seems like a dick who feels he's entitled to things no one else on the roster is.

he seems like a dick who feels he's entitled to things no one else on the roster is. In the sense that he'd be treated like a Hogan-like star in Mexico if he left to wrestle for AAA or CMLL, he is. I don't think there are any other upper-midcarders* in WWE who have those sorts of prospects waiting for them outside of the company. *And yes, Rey's still just an upper-midcarder; until he starts wining competitive feuds against actual main eventers instead of guys like Punk/Swagger/Kane, he's still not in the top echelon of stars IMO.

The only reason I'm not sick of the Undertaker is because he's never around long enough for me to tire of him. He gives people time to miss him.
