Well, there was the fact that he thought that "If you're not down with Owen Hart, I got two words for ya!" was an appropriate thing to say.

There was nothing bad about Billy Gunn. Unfortunately, there was nothing good either. I agree, he was just...there. The New Age Outlaws were great but that was mainly due to Road Dogg's mic skills and them joining DX.

Billy Gunn was average, but I think he will forever be known as one who can find a great career out of the mid-card. He is a mid-card legend basically. More than Koko B. Ware, imho.

He always reminded me of Lex Luger, if Lex Luger could wrestle worth a damn.

Excellent tag wrestler but he couldn't really stand on his own as a singles star despite WWE's pushes.

Billy wasn't. Road Dogg remained over after the NAO broke up. Billy got "Billy Bitchcakes" and a gay-themed tag team. There are good midcard runs and bad ones. It would've been interesting if Billy had somehow become a "Tatanka" in terms of overness with an IC run, but...it wasn't in the cards.

He was actually supposed to win the Intercontinental Title from Ken Shamrock at the 1999 Royal Rumble..but he bragged to all his buddies that he was going to win it..once it got back to the higher ups, they changed their mind and decided to have him lose to Shamrock.

I dunno really, I always kinda liked the guy. Granted his 2004 run was total crap (feuding with Kenzo Suzuki and forming a tag team with Hardcore Holly for about a month), but apart from that I always enjoyed his work.
He had a pretty good looking piledriver as well. I saw him hit one on D'Lo Brown in a tag match at Capital Carnage '98 that looked brutal.

Since the hell WHEN did Billy Gunn have MIC SKILLS?
Telling people to 'suck it' makes you have good mic skills? Then I've had great mic skills since I first watched Eddie Murphy: Raw back when I was SEVEN.

Agree he was actually really good in the ring, but he lacked the IT factor and they made it worse by repackaging him over and over for years as if he was some new talent. I actually liked his whole career except the one, the ass, and when he said if your not down with that.... Billy N Chuck was actually kind of entertaining when he proposed that they be tag team partners for life or something.

He was always over and had great matches.
Good on the mic, in the ring, and had the look.
If WWE isn't gonna push you forward then it's just not gonna go anywhere. He would randomly win the IC title or the KOTR but it never went anywhere because he didn't have any storylines afterwards (Or at least good ones)
The "It" factor everyone keeps talking about is WWE pushing the guy full force.
Look at Christian he has all the tools.... But Vince won't push him hard enough. (This would be the It factor) I all but don't care about one of my favorite wrestlers because he's not doing crap

He always reminded me of Lex Luger, if Lex Luger could wrestle worth a damn. Hey, Luger could go when he was motivated. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to dislike the guy. There's no need to unfairly sully his name by unfavorably comparing him to Billy Gunn.

There's no need to unfairly sully his name by unfavorably comparing him to Billy Gunn. There's no way Luger was more talented or had more personality than Billy Gunn did. Just think if Luger was around in the Attitude era how much he'd get buried or just as much be fodder for the Rock or Austin.
