Think of whatever your favorite sports organizations are. Now, think about the songs that play on national broadcasts (or local ones) before the games begin. Which ones are most iconic to you? Which bring you back to your childhood? Or, straight up, which are simply the best, in your opinion, above all others? Could be from any sport, from the US "Big 4", to Euro football, to NASCAR, to PGA, Tennis, etc. I'm sure we've had this thread before, but I've been getting myself pumped for hockey season and cycling through some old themes on YouTube. Hence, my first selection: I remember pacing around my living room at age 18, stomach in knots because the Devils and Ducks were at the Meadowlands about to start Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals. Love this theme. As for my first love, baseball: (the video always freezes at the :04 second mark, just skip a second ahead) This one is taken directly from the Game 7 telecast of the Mets/Red Sox World Series (note a theme here about what themes mean the most to me?) from 1986, which I have the DVD of. Even if I took away the fact that it reminds me of the Mets' victory, there's still the fact that it's just an awesome tune. Wish I could find the 1998-2000 era MLB on NBC theme, too, which I always loved hearing. I have to be honest, football themes haven't really made a huge impression on me yet, but I'm getting there with the current Sunday Night Football march theme. Maybe if the Giants win the Manning Bowl this week I'll add it That said, had to save the best for last. I don't even like the NBA anymore, but COME ON!

If you're Canadian and a hockey fan, you'll know this like you know your own name:
Too bad CBC was too cheap to pay for the rights. It's on TSN and RDS now, but it's not the same. It's like Canada's second national anthem.

Man, I remember hearing this theme as a kid and getting pumped up for those epic Red Wings/Avalanche, Red Wings/Stars, and Stars/Avalanche games from the mid to late 90s (and I'm a Kings/Ducks fan)

Ski Sunday or BBC's Formula 1 theme (or "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac as it's better known).

Of the current themes this is the runner up.
And this is the obvious winner.
From the past.
National Hockey Night
This one isn't a networks theme, but its such great theme music for a show about the NFL, you'll have to turn up your volume for this one, its the best I could find.
There are plenty more I'm sure.

It's like Canada's second national anthem. From what I've heard, even non-hockey fans in Canada (apparently, they do exist) were angry when the theme disappeared. Still, I honestly like it's replacement, "Canadian Gold", but I guess I didn't grow up with the old theme, so it doesn't have the same impact on me. Also, I'm really, REALLY remiss if I leave out a tune that's classic for two big reasons: 1) when I hear it, I know it's nearly baseball season, and thus nearly summer, and 2) when a game comes on that uses it, it means it's time to spend the next 3 hours making fun of Joe Morgan.

That's ok, they are under investigation now about that contest.

Not exactly a show's theme, but its played during football highlights on ESPN. Absolutely love when they use it, it'll make even the most boring games epic.

ESPN knew how to make theme music. Shame that they don't have the show on Sundays anymore since NBC took over the Sunday night games.
