f4wonline.com and pwpix.net are reporting that the plans within WWE within the next year are to unify all titles-- they already unified the tag titles, they're unifying the Women's titles at NoC, and plans for the WM 27 main event tentatively are a title vs. title match between the WHC and the WWE Champion. It's unknown when the IC and US titles will be unified. www.pwpix.net/pwpixnews/headlines/285254418.php

Yeah, doubt it.
Would be hilarious for the divas, belt though.
This would make for far more focused programming, but it might run the talent that are champiions ragged.

I understand this but I don't particularly like it. The talent pool is so deep right now, more titles to push wrestlers is far better.
But I can see why. When does Miz defend his US belt anyway? It's about as useful as the Million Dollar Championship. And having one world champion go to both brands makes sense. It also speaks to what they think of the SD talent pool.
MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT THIS.

If they are to do this they should leave the US and IC titles seperate. That way they can be each brand's top title which midcarders on the rise and upper carderers(?) who aren't doing anything can fight for.

They should only have the tag and Divas titles unified.

Or you unify the belts, and bring back lower tier belts, like a Hardcore title. Give Santino something to do.

The point of unifying the Women's and Tag belts is that there isn't enough competition in both of those divisions. There is defiantly enough competition for the World titles and Intercontinental/US title.

Brilliant idea. Right up there with the Miz push.

Personally I think the WWE and World title belts need to be unified. The belt is supposed to symbolize the best wrestler in the WWE, and having two of them means that the holder is only half a champion. I'd keep the IC and US titles separate, and focus on building feuds based on emotion and story rather than just wanting a belt that has no meaning.
For everyone saying that someone can't get over without a title, look at Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase Sr., Razor Ramon, Undertaker for the first half of his career, Kane, Vader, etc. They either had no titles or very short reigns, yet all are fondly remembered and highly admired to this day.

Funny that they didn't post this before the Womens title announcement and the Unification of the Tag Titles become official.

So, are they ending the brand split, too? Or is it just unifying the titles and having the title holder compete on both brands? Also, what would happen to the title shot that the winner of the Royal Rumble gets?

The US and IC titles shoudln't be unified, just because they can be used as brand specific titles. I'm glad they're starting this. I don't think it's a major spoiler, but it's something they could start building towards.
It makes the one title more important, and everyone will know who the champion is. This is definitely something exciting.
They could also do little things throughout the year where people have to jump through a lot of hoops just to get title matches. They already have The Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank. Maybe as well they could bring in the King of the Ring, winner gets a title shot, winner of NXT of course, and maybe other little things.

Maybe they can make him alternate between brands with some kind of new rule. Why would that change? It'd just mean he doesn't get a choice as to which world championship he can go for.

I'm glad they're starting it too if it is true. I always preferred it when there was one World champion and half of the current main eventers won't be there too much longer anyway so the main event scene shouldn't be too crowded. It might be best to keep both midcard titles though.
One thing I will say about the rumoured Wrestlemania main event. If that happens, what the hell happens to the Royal Rumble?

Why would that change? It'd just mean he doesn't get a choice as to which world championship he can go for. But if the unification match is at Mania then it would be one champion getting a shot at the other champion, which is complicated to book with the Rumble-winner-getting-a-shot system. So they could have one of the champions somehow win the Rumble (maybe even do something like 1992 where the winner wins a vacated title), they could have the Rumble winner go on to win one of the titles before Mania, they could have a thing like Wrestlemania X where the challenger wrestles an earlier match and then wrestles the winner of the unification match. Whatever and however, I hope this happens. It really bothers me that there are 1/2 world champions. I feel it kind of makes it seem like nothing really matters because no one person is really the champion (I've only been watching in the 2 champ era since last December).

My problem with one world title is I have a feeling it would just be HHH, Cena, Orton, Edge on BOTH shows fighting over it and I don't want that.
