I don't like kids much, but even I'll admit that adults don't give them enough credit. They're much smarter and more independant than they get credit for. Unfortunately, in today's world parents think that if they let their kids out of their sight for 5 seconds they will get killed, kidnapped, or molested. We also dumb down our entertainment nowadays to make it more kid-friendly, when in reality kids are smart enough to not need that. Yeah, I'm not a fan of kids either. I think, for some things, they get too much credit. Things have to be dumbed down or censored or hidden or banned because "kids might see.". Kids are great in that, they believe anything their told up to a certain age, so when they ask a question they don't need an in-depth answer for, "I don't know." is a great fall back. There's things for kids and there's things for adults. The lines have been blurred way too much now. "Whatever happened to people? You know, the veterans of childhood?" Bill Maher

Children are annoying, they care only for themselves and they're controlled by their impulses. That's why I don't like kids.

Children are annoying, they care only for themselves and they're controlled by their impulses. That's why I don't like kids. So they are humans? And saying they only care for themselves is the biggest load of BS I have ever heard. If anything they care about others more than they do themselves, at a younger age they tend to lack the ego to only be out for themselves. I work with kids every day and I see great acts of selflessness every day.

Mine too, if I had one. Just saying, "my kids" are NEVER like "the other kids." It's not you, it's everyone. It'll probably be me too if I find some girl fool enough to raise a family with me.

My grandparents are going deaf and when I talk normally they usually don't understand me so I try to slow my speech right down and use as few words as possible. However sometimes that makes it feel like I'm talking down to them and I absolutely hate that.
To bring it back on topic I assume it's a natural for some people to slip into an that patronising way of speaking when trying to get children to understand them (as somebody already mentioned).

To bring it back on topic I assume it's a natural for some people to slip into an that patronising way of speaking when trying to get children to understand them (as somebody already mentioned). I agree with that because some adults are worried that kids might not get what is going on or assume something else, or the topic is too hard for a child to comprehend.

Children are annoying, they care only for themselves and they're controlled by their impulses. That's why I don't like kids. That's why they call it child-like behavior. If you've noticed, this behavior is becoming the norm in adult society, too. I've never needed the child leash, because I've insisted that my son hold my hand in crowded places since he was old enough to walk. Now, at 4, he does it instinctively, and generally stays within arm's reach in a public place. Now, when it's Sam's Club at 10am, and it's totally empty, he'll sprint up and down the aisles, and it's totally cool. But grocery stores, he'll insist on pushing the cart while I guide it. He's reached his helpful stage. I'm going to miss it when he's a teenager.

It'll probably be me too if I find some girl fool enough to raise a family with me. I get where you are coming from but that's not the case in this instance. Growing up with a handicap big brother. She ALWAYS puts other people before herself. She's been known to give away her toys if she thought it would make another kid happy. And although I will agree she can be annoying at times. It's never in a pesky way, she just doesn't leave me alone sometimes and thinks it's always play time. But when it comes to acting on impulse she actually has a lot of trouble with that. She's always asked if what she does is ok before she does it. Unless it's in her room. I made it a rule that she can do what ever she wants in her room as long as she understands the rest of the house has to stay the way we put it.

That's why I basically treat them like stupid monkeys.

No one sad you were a bad guy, but you presented your opinion in a poor way and you made a sweeping blanket statement about all of a group. That is stereotyping plain and simple.

Even worse is when cartoons really looked dumbed down for children. I'm guessing this is the reason why X-Men the series made it while Pryde of X-Men went nowhere. same for the original Batman cartoon. As a child, I felt my intelligence wasn't being insulted.

I came here to post that! When I was a kid the cartoons were pretty intelligently written, so much so that as an adult I can watch them and find them entertaining. Now the cartoon are just dumbed down pieces of shit like the writers don't think kids can understand anything with something resembling a plot, character development or hell, even intelligent humour.

Unless you're related to the kid in some way - kids are dull most of the time. “Oh, David, you should have seen it, he’s such a funny little guy. How old are the kids in question? Are we talking about a four or five-year-old? Because then yeah, that's a pretty dull conversation for an adult.
I can converse with a child between 9-13 without much trouble.
