I remember saying this when I was walking up to the American Airlines Center to watch Saturday Nights Main Event with my friend...
We so some little kids with Cena shirts and that made me remember m y friend telling me his little brothers friends that watched wrestling didnt even know who Stone Cold was...
Then I said something about kids not knowing about the history or something like that...
Then later on the train ride back there were some kids who had a D-X DVD that had Taker on it and they didnt even know who Paul Bearer was and they kept trying to remember his name. One guess was "Paul Bayman". I eventually said in a kinda mad sounding voice: "Its Paul BEARER."
You guys ever have one of those moments where you sound like an old man criticizing this generation of kids?

My younger cousin (like 12 or 13 now) gets a lot of his wrestling knowledge from me, but at some points I'd bring up something from the attitude era and he would just give me that "What in the blue hell are you talking about?" look... His favorite wrestler is still The Rock though... I think mostly to please me...

I remember being at target looking at the wrestling toys and these two kids saw a dusty rhodes toy and they were saying how dusty rhodes is stupid. I wanted to hit them.

I kinda had that at the Smackdown taping I went to last month. It was weird how many kids that were there, because it really brought the tone down on me for the ECW show. I was really hoping that most of the 'rents would take their kids home after SD ended, because it was pretty late (and school was still in for the most part), but they stayed all the way through. Kinda made me self-censor myself since I didn't feel like getting into it with the two families that surrounded me (even though the dad behind me yelled once to put my sign down).
And that's the strange thing: as a full grown adult with no kids, I can't stand all of the little mark kids who go nuts for Cena, but I realize that they are the future of the industry, they're in the same position I was in when I grew a love of wrestling. So who am I to not want them to have fun and learn the past. Hell, I didn't know anything about WCW or the AWA when I was growing up, and I didn't know Mankind started life as Cactus Jack. If they really care, they'll learn and grow. The others, like the ones who didn't know Paul Bearer's name, will wither on the vine and die off eventually.

My friends lil brother is 11 so obviously he loves Cena...
...he actually use to like heels like Orton and Kane but now he just loves the good guys...
I constantly try to explain how stale Cena actually but its no use...he still likes him better then Stone Cold somehow even though he pratically grew up on wrestling...his uncles like it, his cousins did, and his brothers do...
Ill admit though, I was the same as a kid. Hell when I started watching wrestling/WCW full time in 97, I had no idea that Nash, Hall, or even HOGAN were ever in WWF...

I got you all beat. I can remember seeing Dick the Bruiser vs. King Kong (Bruiser) Brody live. How many wrestling fans even remember Dick the Bruiser? Or Brody? Back in the day, EVERY wrestling fan knew who these guys were. Now, since the new wrestling fans don't know who they are, they somehow "Don't matter". All this Pitbull jazz on another thread enforces the sad state of todays wrestling fans. If it happened before they started watching wrestling, it doesn't matter. Well, it matters to me, dammit! Excuse me, I gotta go take my Geritol now...

Wow,Dick The Bruiser vs. King Kong Brody....was that a special "Loser has to sell a move" match? And was there a run-ins by Ox Baker and Da Crusher?(inside jokes for old school fans there)
I loved the old days back before "Sports Entertainment"...to me the matches seemed to make a lot more sense;I mean it might not look as pretty as a triple 360 moonsault through a burning table onto a bed of barbed wire, which is also burning, but a Hammerlock or Front Facelock really HURTS when someone does it to you with any kind of force.
The great majority of today's workers/matches bring to mind Jim Cornette's description of Austin Idol..."All show and very little go"

Try explaining to your roommate that Sandman isn't an Austin ripoff despite me showing him DVDs of Sandman before Austin was Austin.

Yeah well I was at Raw the day after Wrestlemania and they had those banners with the wrestlers on them and was sitting under the "Road Warrior Animal" one and this one kid was like: "Who the f@ck is Road Warrior Animal??" I hate newbies. Also one time was at a car show back in the 90's and Brutus Beefcake was there and some dude had a pic of him and Greg Valentine when they were tag champs, this other kid said "Aw man, Beefcake was never a bad guy". I wanted to push him over the railing.

If these kids don't even know who SCSA is, then they missed all the wrestlecrap the rest of us suffered through. Shockmaster, Billionaire Ted, Gobbledy Gooker, David Arquette, Vince Russo, WCW Thunder every week, WWF 1995, etc.
I mean, we on this board are the real fans. We watched the horrific Nitro from 1999-2001, Pat Patterson's skidmarked underwear, Viagra on a pole, Glacier, katie Vick, dead Al Wilson, Heroes of Wrestling, and on and on and on.
Those kids deserve an ass-whippin' for even pretending to be fans.

...was there a run-ins by Ox Baker and Da Crusher? Not from Da Crusher, but Ox got involved, as well as Dick's son-in-law Spike Huber. Someone needs to make a "Legends of WWA Indianapolis" action figure set. Dick the Bruiser with his saggy pecs, Bobo Brazil, Ox Baker, King Kong Brody, Spike Huber, Bobby Heenan, Johnny Starr, The Sheik, Mr. Electricity Steve Regal, blah blah blah. Yeah, I know. I'd be the only one buying them. Man, I miss the WWA. It was pretty FN cool. The faces were as ugly as the heels.

Though I have only seen it on video tape,I love the old WWA stuff....only promotion I know of to put their top belt on a guy (Pepper Gomez) for about 6 months, and have him never win even a single match clean, every match was a DQ/Count-Out/Time Limit Draw.

Things like that happen to me all the time. New fans trying to tell me stuff that I know is wrong, people making tasteless jokes about Owen Hart and Eddie Guerrero's deaths, and my cousin telling me the old dx with x-pac,chyna,road dogg, billy gunn, and trips was called "x-factor". I just hate little kids who know nothing about the business and it's history. I mean, I guess I was there once too like someone said earlier, but maybe I just hate casual fans (in any sport).
