I just recently got back into following the WWE and I've heard Edge, among other people make references to a "live sex celebration." Can someone explain what this was? Surely this was something that happened in the Attitude era right?

No it was after the attitude era. It was when Edge was with Lita, and they were suppose to have sex in a bed that was placed in the middle of the ring live.

Nope. This happened during Edge's feud with John Cena, after he won the title for the first time (I think). He decided he and Lita would have a live sex celebration on RAW, and they got in the middle of the ring, got under some blankets and started taking their clothes off (and Lita accidentally flashed the world). Then John Cena came out and gave Edge the FU.

When Edge mentioned it on Raw, he only referred to it as a "live celebration."

Yeah, I remember this and thinking, "WWE, what are you thinking? This is going to be really awkward." But, I had to see how far WWE was going to take this and sure enough we got some accidental partial nudity.

It happened in 2006, between the PG era and Attitude era, do we have a name for that era yet? I'm pretty sure that 2002 to 2005 is the Ruthless Aggression era, but I could be wrong.
Edge had to catch himself there, he almost called Michael Cole a retard. It's true, but the only words they allow these days are "ass," "hell," and "damn." The occasional innuendo or double entendre can slip by, but that's it.
So what do you guys think was more responsible for Edge not being in the main event at Wrestlemania that year, the live sex, or Triple H?

I personally believe that WWE used the MitB cash in to accomplish 3 things, get the MitB used, give Cena an opponent for the Royal Rumble, and test the waters for an Edge title run. They wanted to give Cena a rub at Mania against Triple H and the Edge/Foley angle was too good to pass up.

It was actually Flair that came out, but yeah.
It was honestly one of the only times I've felt uncomfortable watching WWE. I didn't think it would go nearly as far as it did. If I recall, when Flair's music hit Lita's head was down at Edge's crotch.

If I recall, when Flair's music hit Lita's head was down at Edge's crotch. Both Cena and Flair came down at different points. Flair was obvious because of the IC title fight the night before, and Cena because he lost the WWE title the night before. BTW, that show was DEFINITELY TV-14, and for about a month afterwards, actually added an 'S' to it, making a full TV-14 DLSV. It was shock value that not only worked for WWE in terms of ratings, but at that point, that was the most interested I was for a title holder in quite some time.

I figured it would get broken up before they even got in the bed, but it kept going further and further. Eventually, I figured they really were going to have cheesy, simulated sex in the middle of the ring.

This is the best video of it I could find. The uploader added romantic music to it to make it funny I guess. Unfortunately, you have to remove it dude, its against board rules to post non-WWEFanNation Youtube videos on this forum. Adding the content was deleted. Be this a lesson for the whippersnappers of this forum!
