Anyone else feeling apathetic?

Not that i have any issue with the result of the main event, just the way it went down.

No shenanigans, no interference, no big ending, no real use of cena doing anything weird when refereeing, just orton hitting his RKO and that was it.

Not sure what i expected, but with the months of slow build to this, it sure wasn't that.

Last night, watching, I was annoyed because the pay off was so poor, but today, i simply don't care.

Maybe it's because I know I wont be seeing Raw tonight, but there is a large part of me that doesn't even want to set a recording up.

The problem is that nothing from that match actually gives us anything to anticipate:

Orton is still champ, Barrett lost clean and nobody expects the stipulation to stick in the long-term.

I was actually shocked. It seemed like they were really playing this up that Cena was going to do something extreme in either decision he made.

Aside from a micro second hesitation before counting the 3, it seemed pretty standard. I was left thinking, "Oh..well, then".

I feel exactly the same way. You have a storyline where you have numerous creative endings you could have come up with, and they've been building up this match to be something that'll go in the history books yet they come up with this dull finish? A push into an RKO... Really?!?

Considering all the ways they could have done it, and left us wondering what would happen next, developing the story in new and interesting directions (heck, they managed to set up even more possible ways it could go with R-Truth talking about interfering) the WWE instead decided the best way to do it would be to job Barrett out clean with an RKO. Insert the Cornette Face here.

I'm disappointed. It was an amazing PPV up to that point, and then they just decided to go the most repetitive, boring route possible, because the champion Randy Orton can't have more than 2 finishes, either winning clean with an RKO or winning with a punt.

Barrett was shoved by Cena before the end was he not? That's not a clean loss.

Personally, I think this was a case where the build was always going to be better than the resolution (you know, the Lost scenario). Before the match, there were a lot of comments about how people truly didn't know what was going to happen and how it could go any way, then afterwards a bunch of people were calling it predictable. The result that would have likely led to the fewest complaints was the Cena Heel Turn, which wouldn't have made any sense from a story standpoint. It's a scenario where, for a lot of people, they had no idea what they wanted to see, but it wasn't that.

Thing is, though, this match was crying out to be the CLIMAX of the storyline. The part of the story where SOMETHING big happens. The fact that, apparently(didn't see the show, so can't comment personally) nothing happened at all in any appreciable way, makes people feel disappointed, not shocked.

I'm not shocked nothing happened, i was sorta just hoping something would.

If cena wanted to call it down the middle, and not screw orton, then why not set something up where barrett smacks orton with a chair, and set the big barrett grinning and pausing before the pin to set up the "is he gonna call the 3" then when he doesnt do it, push him into the RKO, instead of what they did where he sorta just does a lame push into an RKO.

That would give the storyline much more oomph without changing anything at all. Would give barrett more heel power, make orton look even stronger for getting up after the shot, and make cena even more of a face for not calling the 3.

Also to clarify, i'm in no way shocked, just meh, hence the title.

I agree with Spankymac,I didn't see it either but expected something big to happen..maybe not epic but at least something that would shake up the status quo...It sounds like we got the opposite...

The way the match was being built up and all the teasing for a swerve finish, only Nexus being banned from ringside, R-Truth stirring things up, the indecisive promos on Cena's side, them making the match no DQ, it felt like we were suppose to get a different finish but at the last minute they decided to go the safe route for whatever reason.

I don't see why the biggest star on the roster being forced to leave the company is not a big deal.

Maybe it's because people will know he'll be back eventually, but these same people also think he's going to just show up on Raw tomorrow, beat Heath Slater to get his contract back and thats that.

Personally, I think he's gone untill after the Rumble, with any sighting tomorrow being his "farwell speach"

Just thinking about it... Why didn't they use the Kane/Edge finish for Barrett/Orton? Both of them are down, so there's no question about whether Cena was biased, and Cena does, as they pointed to numerous times, call the match down the middle. Literally!

With all due respect to everyone here, I have spent the last several weeks being completely STUNNED AND BAFFLED by the sheer volume of people on the forum who'd been taking it for granted that Cena was turning heel, or Barrett was winning the belt.

This is like seriously expecting Hogan to sell the WWF title to Ted Dibiase (and complaining alongside that WWF is "burying" Dibiase by not presenting him as credibly capable of beating the Hulkster clean). It makes no discernable sense and complies to no known standards of sanity and logic beyond an M. Night Shyamalan-esque view that any plot can be improved by piling on more and more plot twists.

The top babyface of WWE, the morally upstanding do-gooder, was forced to decide between material success and standing firm to his beliefs. What did you think he was going to do?

Something big did happen. Cena sided with Orton and was fired. That may be undone on Raw, it may not be, but one of the two possibilities outlined in the match's stipulation occurred. If it was a dusty finish, then you could say nothing happened, because his fate would still be left up in the air. That double pinfall someone suggested, that would have been nothing happening. But this wasn't swervy or screwy, it was played straight and definitive. Cena decided, in the end, to screw Barrett and get fired. Yes, we know he'll be back, and don't know exactly when, but I don't think you can say nothing at all happened and nothing was resolved.

I don't mind if people didn't like the outcome, but it's not right to say nothing happened.

^ Exactly what Hawk said. This was a big deal.. the swerves you thought was coming, the Anon Gm reveal you had pegged, the Cena heel turn, the dusty finish you wanted, none of that happened, and once again, WWE had an outcome that YOU couldn't predict so you immediately jump on the train of "Meh, nothing happened."

Kidding me? It was unpredictable and I didn't think Cena was going to count the three on himself, and for that, I have to say.. I was surprised, and WWE again has written a storyline that keeps turning and twisting that I don't see coming.

I'll agree it was a big deal if Cena actually retires from the WWE for good. But since that'll never happen, forgive me for not being excited about the ending.
