too many future world champions?

Potential future world champions that I can think of:

The Miz (more or less guaranteed)
Wade Barrett
Daniel Bryan
John Morrison
Alberto Del Rio
Drew Mcintyre
Cody Rhodes
Kaval (supposedly)

add to this former champions that will more than likely have more reigns, John Cena, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Edge, Big Show, Jack Swagger and then there's veterans who might get a thankyou reign at some point Goldust, Mark Henry and then there's people we may have not heard of as of yet!

Does this dilute the prestige of being world champion or make the whole thing more interesting?

I think the perception of smaller guys actually having a chance to become future World champions is good and makes for a more wide-open WWE (as opposed to 20 years ago, when you had to look like a WBF candidate to even warrant any type of push), but still, not everybody is cut out to be just that.

John Morrison's window was open for a while, but now it seems to have closed for the time being. (John's current character is keeping him down. He hasn't "evolved" like I'm sure we had hoped or expected.) The rest, you can't judge after a year if they're World title material. Give them a few years, then start asking of these "newer" (new to WWE standards) guys.

And a possibility of Goldust (seriously?) as a World champion. I'm just speechless that this would even come up.

Miz and Barrett: Safe bets, unless they have a falling-out with WWE or get too banged up before the trigger is pulled on them.

Bryan, Morrison or Del Rio: They could be used as "experiments" like Bret Hart was back in 1992, but they still need some major storylines behind them to gain that extra credibility.

McIntyre, Rhodes or Kaval: I doubt it.

For former champions, I can see Cena or Edge getting one or two more reigns at the most considering how their bodies are at this stage. Orton's the only current main eventer I can still see remaining dominant for a while. Punk will probably get another reign some time in the future, but sadly I think Swagger's been pushed aside.

not really a problem. a lot of guys end up fizzling out before they get that far. Ken Kennedy, MVP and Carlito are 3 guys that a few years ago people were convinced were future world champions. you can also probably add guys like Shelton Benjamin and Muhammad Hassan (that guy was getting HUGE heat). and then there's the guys that DO get there and then fall flat on their face, like Bobby Lashley.

also, need I mention Billy Gunn? WWE were damn set on turning that guy into a main eventer, fan interest be damned.

Here's what I think about those:


The Miz - like you said, pretty much guaranteed.

Wade Barrett - He absolutely has to. I think it'll happen at SS, and if it won't, it'll happen eventually. It just has to happen.

Daniel Bryan - I want to, and would mark for a couple of months. And although it's a long shot, I see it happening some time or other. Bryan is an excellent worker and wrestler, and people backstage realize it. He's also a great person who's nice to everyone and is very well liked backstage also. He's also a company man who's not going to do anything stupid outside of the ring to embarrass or shame the company. Tiegate was just a mistake that offended sponsors, not anyone else. He's getting a great push now and everytime he's up against a main eventer like Batista, Chris Jericho, or Sheamus, he puts up a hell of a fight. This obviously means something. They must see a lot of potential in Bryan, much more so than anyone else right now. The fact that Benoit and Eddie got the titles eventually make me have hope. It's not impossible. (okay fine I'll mention rey too)

John Morrison - If he doesn't turn heel soon, or gets into a really good feud (Sheamus) he's not going to go anywhere. But I see it happen eventually, he has what it takes.

Alberto Del Rio - Si! Mil veces si! Alberto Del Rio es un hombre honesto, un hombre con honor, y un hombre irresistiblemente guapo que viene a rescatar el WWE de los campeones campesinos! *wink*

Drew Mcintyre - Eh, maybe. But he's not even close now. But people have compared him to a young HHH, so who knows.

Cody Rhodes - I don't know really. I thought the awesome new gimmick would get him places but he hasn't really been doing anything of importance lately. He's just kind of there. Being awesome. But I can see him getting there.

Kaval - lol no. Even if he actually gets a push it'll be midcard-jtts. I do hope he gets SOME kind of push, though.

The Miz - I hope he's the first MITB to fail actually, just my opinion.

Wade Barrett - Yeah I think he can go the distance.

Daniel Bryan - Too early but not impossible, I see him as a Jericho, Guerrero, Benoit champion, earns tons of respect but takes the WWE ages to finally give him the ball.

John Morrison - Nope, his time has come and gone.

Alberto Del Rio - No way, just don't see it.

Drew Mcintyre - Midcard mediocrity.

Cody Rhodes - ;D ;D ... your killing me, really Cody Rhodes? There is more chance of Santino being champ.

Kaval - Bar a Mysterio-esque following he hasn't got a chance, not that he isn't taleneted.

The Miz - Yes but not with MITB, I can see him cashing in and failing.

Wade Barrett - He'll take it from Orton I think. TBH he's completely ready for the belt now.

Daniel Bryan - He's the new Chris Benoit. I can see him been a strong upper-mid-carder for years with occasional pushes into title matches/feuds before eventually winning the belt.

John Morrison - I don't know, the WWE are weird with his pushes. He may get wins over the current world champ like he did with Swagger and CM Punk but then job to a lower-card wrestler. I do think he'll get it eventually though.

Alberto Del Rio - Too early to tell, he shows alot of potential at the moment but so did MPV during his feud with Matt Hardy. Once that was over with though MVP went nowhere and in fact shown himself to be a pretty sloppy wrestler at times.

Drew Mcintyre - Too early to tell

Cody Rhodes - No, I just don't see him as a title contender. Mid-Carder for life.

Kaval - Nope, can actually see him getting released next year

I can't believe how many people are giving up on John Morrison already. He'll get it eventually. The guy has had one title or another almost his entire WWE career. Vince loves him. I'm not giving up on him yet. I think his biggest days are yet to come. I hope he gets a Shawn Michaels "boyhood dream" type push towards a World Title. Or just wait until a couple more current main eventers are out of action, then he'll probably get his big push. In the meantime, he's starting a feud with Sheamus - this is a good sign for him, right? Another small step up the ladder...

As for the other ones - Miz, Barrett, and Bryan are definates. Bryan for WHC, the other two for the WWE Title. Del Rio and McIntyre have the potential, but it's too early to predict a world title for them. Rhodes could do it through longetivity. Kind of like a "career" reward for him, since he seems like he's in it for the long haul. He's certainly got the talent to carry the strap one day. Kaval is the only one I can't see happening.

I haven't given up on Morrison yet. Over a year ago, I estimated they had until circa Summerslam 2011 to elevate him to the main event before missing the boat on him; after that, you run the risk that he's no longer going to be young and cute, that injuries will keep him from doing as many cool flippy moves, and worst of all, that he'll so thoroughly have the stink of the midcard on him that no one will take him seriously as as contender.

But we haven't gotten there yet.

I agree with you completely, though I'll give him two years before he hits the point of no return. One more year of strong booking and no title won't kill his chances quite yet. The key is strong booking and no injuries.

Truthfully any of them could be world champions. You have to look at the likes of Bradshaw in 2004 to prove the point that anyone can be champion if they're given the right push and if they have the talent to support it once they're at the top.

Saying that, the guys out of that list who I see as most likely to win the titles are Miz, Barrett, ADR and possibly Morrison. The others it's way too soon to tell.

The Miz- Seconding the "First to lose MitB" sentiment.....but I DO think he's getting the title eventually. Eventually settling into the Big Show/Kane/Sheamus "Wild Card/Third man" role, he isn't always actively gunning for the title, but can be injected into feuds as needed.

Wade Barrett- Most Definately, they've sacrificed too much valuable TV time (NXT1, ENTIRE Nexus Angle, On BOTH shows) and talent (NXT1 Roster minus Bryan, Aligned him with Cena, Multiple matches with the Champion, Somehow involved with Kane/Taker) to do nothing with him at this point

Daniel Bryan- Possibly.....I also echo the Benoit comparisons. He's not the WWE mold, but to NOT put the title on him at some point and claim it's based on ability strains credulity at best.

John Morrison- Maybe.....If he stays injury free and comes out of this sheamus feud looking alright, I could see it soon. Mind you he's been a "Future WWE Champion" since the split of the In-Crowd

Alberto Del Rio- Almost certainly, You don't beat Rey Mysterio, let alone free and clear on your debut without some cleartly defined plan down the line.

Drew Mcintyre- No......Not unless he gets some major overhaul and starts showing charisma again.

Cody Rhodes- Nope, The Son of the son of a plumber could be A champion, but I'm not seeing him ascending any higher than maybe IC title range.

Kaval- No in the slightest.....For every advantage given and mark for Wade Barrett, Kaval gets a mark against. I'm in agreement that he'll get swept away in the annual talent purge

No. Just no. Mark Henry's thank you run was the ECW title. And Goldust? No chance.

As for diluting the prestige? Even if every single one of them won the title, it doesn't dilute it. That's what the title is for, winning, and everyone is supposed to want it. Having a lot of people who could win would just make it look more competitive. Of course, I don't think half of the people on that list will sniff it in their careers.

They will have to give him the Randy Orton push to make it happen. They were two guys that were signed very very young and got pushed way way too early.
