I remember reading a little blurb in a magazine back in 1998 that said the WWF scratch logo was designed by a 4 year old. That sounds so messed up that it makes it seem like a definite possibility.
Did anyome else ever read or hear about this?

Maybe they were just likening the logo to that of a four year old's scribbling?

Maybe they were just likening the logo to that of a four year old's scribbling? No it didn't say anything like that, it was only a 2 sentence thing or so with a picture of the logo. It actually wasn't a wrestling magazine. It was a video game magazine doing a preview of WWF War Zone, and I think the magazine was Expert Gamer, which used to be like EGM 2 or something.

A book I used to have on the history of Wrestlemania (as I recall, it was official, and from someone directly involved) says that Vince used his fingernail to draw the logo on a cold glass of water during a meeting. Sounds just as urban legendish, mind.

The story i heard was Shane McMahon scribbled it on a napkin or something during a meeting and someone saw it, liked it and it stuck.

Did anyome else ever read or hear about this? It was called "Game Buyer" magazine (which only lasted for like 2 or 3 issues). I think it was a case of the writer trying to be sarcastic, but for awhile I believed it too. The writer also didn't seem to be too informed on modern wrestling, because under one photo from WCW/nWo Revenge, it called Chris Benoit something like a "random nobody".

I think I heard the Shane/napkin story also.
Because it does look like something that someone would scribble on a cocktail napkin while sitting at a bar.

Actually, I think it was Game Players, cuz I think I remember reading that myself. It was all "gotta love that logo that was designed by a four year old." It came off completely sarcastic, so there you go. I, too, have heard the Shane story before.

The story i heard was Shane McMahon scribbled it on a napkin or something during a meeting and someone saw it, liked it and it stuck. Now I've got this mental image of Shane, bored off his ass, just randomly drawing things on cocktail napkins...balling them up...and launching them, basketball-style, into a trash basket. Hilarious things, too, like his dad with comically over-sized muscles. Triple H's head on Stephanie's body.

Granted, but I'm pretty sure this article ran when it was still Game Players, or possibly Ultra Game Players.

It was based on an Air Jordan Nike Commerical that was very popular at the time. While, I'm pretty certain that linking to a clip of a commerical for critical purposes counts as fair use for copyright purposes, I'm not going to risk it. Please check You tube for the following videos
Michael Jordan "Challenge Me"
WWF Promo Wrestling is not really fake
Basically, the commericals are the same, the Jordan spot ended with a Air Jordan Logo, whereas the WWF spot ended with Swoop logo similar to Nike. That it.
