The Coens can do no wrong in my eyes. Watching the original, it's dying for a Coen treatment.

It looks awesome. Still I always laugh my ass off at all the dramatic thuds the music makes.
EDIT: This one.

Loved the original, think the Coens could do wonders with it! Also, as Efren said, there's not enough Westerns nowadays. I'm hoping with the success of Red Dead Redemption, more will surface.

My dad, being the lover of old school westerns (damn you Encore for having a channel like this), was completely against the idea of this. He said, "You can't remake a classic like this!"
He's right, but at the same time, if you get the right cast and crew, it can work. This looks like it might have a shot at being one of the best remakes around.
Oh, and I said "was" because my dad seems to have grown on the movie's potential after seeing a few TV spots. I knew it'd get his attention.

Also, True Grit is based on a book, so there's a good possibility some exemptions from the original could show up in the remake.

if you can't get behind Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn, then I just don't know what to say to you.

Apparently the Coen's film is more from the P.O.V of Mattie, so I consider this more to be the second adaption of the book rather than a true "remake".
