I forgot to say sorry to Crash in the results post, I've discovered early that the worst part of this game is having to announce eliminations.
PMs have been sent now. Happy dueting!

(Exhales) I got to start picking it up this round. I'm not going to squeak by in the later rounds with my scores. At least you picked a song that's never been used and didn't get an enormously high aggregate from choosing songs we already know scored well with judges from previous games.

Tangerine-...Why have I never heard this side of Led Zep before?! That was incredible!
Crimson and Clover- Austin Powers wants his clothes back! It's a nice song but it never gets out of first gear, it just gets repetative at the end. And the way way the singer says clover annoys me slightly
Lonley Days- Poor start but it gets better as it goes on, it sounds like a rejected Beatles song.
God Only Knows- I know that Paul McCartney called this the greatest pop song ever, but I don't like it. Dull as dishwater (I just call The Beach Boys dull, I think I may be killed by some angry fans)
House of the Rising Sun- I hate the singers voice, it's a fantastic song but his voice just ruins it for me.
Johnny B. Goode- I have to rate the song version that's given to me, and even though I love this song normally I really don't like this version. The piano ruins it, this is the GREATEST guitar song ever and this version just isn't Johnny B. Goode
The Boxer- Wow! Simply wow!
Gustav Mahler's 1st Symphony Movement No 3- Gutsy move. But it didn't pay off. There are some amazing classical music that captures the imagination and takes you to places that normal music can't but this wasn't one of them.
Spirit in The Sky- I should give you 1 point just to help continue the Spirit in The Sky curse, but I LOVE this song. Great choice!
Ain't no Mountain High Enough- Can't beat a bit of Gaye!
The Joker- ...This is a pre 75 song?! I was certain it came out in the 90s. Brilliant song non the less, and I'm shocked how much of the lyrics I know!
I Started a Joke- Two Bee Gees song and no Stones or Beatles?! WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?! It's alright, not great but not terrible.

Oy. So I realize now, I'm not gonna get any love from Square. Maybe Cageking later too? (PKS you're my last hope now <3!)
Hoping I make a comeback. I'll just send in stuff I like, and hope things go well. If I become a fail this time around, and get eliminated early this time, well, then that's that.
But darn you group rounds! Never really good at the group rounds, myself. Kinda why I never made one in my X Factor. Always got my lowest in those, and been eliminated in one before. Let's see what my partner thinks, he/she might be better at this.
===
My favorite pick of the last round was the Joker.

Can you explain why you chose THAT version of Johnny B. Goode?
No particular reason, except I liked it. Should have picked the regular version though. - V SR

Thanks to everyone who liked The Joker.
And as to why you may have thought it was a 90s song...
"The Joker" is a song by the Steve Miller Band from their 1973 album The Joker. The song is one of two Steve Miller Band songs that feature the neologism "pompatus". The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1974.It draws heavy influence from the Allen Toussaint's song Soul Sister featured on his 1972 album Life, Love and Faith.More than 16 years later, in September 1990, it reached number one in the UK Singles Chart for two weeks after being used in a Levi's television advertisement, thus holding the record for the longest gap between transatlantic chart-toppers.

Rankings: 1st: Steve Miller Band- The Joker 2nd: Beach Boys- God Only Knows 3rd: Chuck Berry- Johnny B. Goode 4th: Led Zeppelin- Tangerine 5th: The Animals- House of the Rising Sun 6th: Tommy James and The Shondells- Crimson and Clover 7th: Bee Gees- Lonely Days 8th: Simon and Garfunkel- The Boxer 9th: Norman Greenbaum- Spirit in the Sky 10th: Bee Gees- I Started a Joke 11th: Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell- Ain't No Mountain High Enough 12th: Los Angeles Philharmonic- Mahler's First Symphony 13th: KISS- Strutter
Thoughts on the Round: -Tangerine was a solid groove, though not the best that you could have used for this round. A song like "Immigrant Song" would have been a better fit for this round. Not bad, though. -Crimson and Clover felt a little... off. A great song, but the distortion kind of just distracted me from the song. -Lonely Days was a slow starter, making me wonder if these were the same Bee Gees that tore up the charts later in the '70s. The middle picked up the song, though. -God Only Knows was pretty much THE perfect song to choose this round. A sound much like the following "album" SMiLE plus some incredibly lifting lyrics make this a winner. -House of the Rising Sun is a great song, but it would have been better if it were ORIGINAL. This song was used already in a previous competition, so it's going to be knocked down in the ratings. -Johnny B. Goode is a classic, no doubt about. It did very well for me as I love the song as well. -The Boxer just felt boring to me. Then again, Simon and Garfunkel are boring to me. Good fit in the category, bad fit for my personal taste. -Mahler's First Symphony......zzzzzzzzzzz......... Huh? Wuzzat? Whoa. I fell asleep during this. You went too far back and picked a bland song. -Spirit in the Sky has the energy, but the song itself fell flat. Okay song, but nothing great. -Ain't No Mountain High Enough suffers the same fate as House of the Rising Sun. Good song, but since it has been chosen in a previous competition, it'll be knocked down accordingly. -I'm a bit surprised that The Joker hasn't been used yet. I love this song a WHOLE LOT and is one of my favorite old school songs. -I Started a Joke felt a bit weirder than the other Bee Gees song used this round. I think it was the instrumentation that did it to me... that, and whichever brother Gibb that was singing. -As for Strutter, this isn't a punishment for getting your song in late. This is a punishment for choosing an artist that was just chosen. It'll automatically get you last place every time. Sorry, but those are the breaks.
Let the hatefest commence!

Hey man, you may like what you have, but I'm taking my time here. You take too much time & the song chosen may alreay be taken then you're out of luck.Plus it'd be nice if you gave me some feedback. You can't pick the two songs by yourself and not to be rude but if we're looking at the first two rounds I've done a little better with song selection anyway. I'm fine with what you have, I'm sorry that in truth I've been running around doing a musical at school as well as class and have put this a little on the back burner since it's an online thing. As far as the whole song selection thing, the deal is I either knock it farther out of the park than anyone else or I strike out, doesn't matter to me. I'm willing to roll the dice. You wanna send your 80's song, go with it.

A little under 24 hours left, although for the teams who are sending in one choice each seperately, if you have sent it in and your partner hasn't, there will be an extension so as not to punish anybody for someone elses error.
