A discussion the other day with a friend over the Five Hour Energy commercials - specifically the new one with a guy narrating as he gets out of bed - motivated me to ask, what companies do you think consistently put out bad commercials?

Olive Garden and Kay Jeweler's. Both are so over the top cheesy they're absolutely pathetic.

As much as I like the PlayStation systems, Sony's ads for them are always... weird and have absolutely nothing to do with gaming. Oh! A weird girl with a creepy face! Oh, a talking duck and a guy's head flying around!... that sure makes me wanna play some Metal Gear Solid!

They turned that around with the Kevin Butler ads though, yeah they had the worst around for ages, but man, they struck gold. For me, the General, who would know that was national from looking at the ads?

Not all of their commercials are bad, but the ones for that "Foundation for a Better Life" can get pretty horrible. The worst offender is the one where the kid hits the ball before it went out of the bounds and the ref doesn't call it, so the kid runs to his coach and tells him that he did and it should be the other team's ball.
No player in the entire world is going to do that at the end of the freaking State Championship game! That's ridiculous! His teammates would have murdered him.

If you live in Australia, they you would have to agree that AAMI make the worst pieces of shit they call advertising ever. AAMI is a insurance company that have too much money so they make these bloody awful musical commercials. And they are on Youtube: www.youtube.com/results?search_query=AAMI&aq=f

Oh and there were also these French Pepsi commercials with a bunch of stereotypical "gangsta" or at least tough guys praising Pepsi acting stereotypically "street". It was just unfunny and really, really annoying. Oh, and the commercial ended with them saying that if you don't try the latest Pepsi, you suck.
Great idea, Pepsi. Insulting me really makes me wanna buy your product.

I always found that Old Navy put out consistently awful commercials. I mean, what part of this makes you want to shop there?

Back in the day, a Carnival cruise ad couldn't go 30 seconds without mentioning the rock wall that is mandatory on every ship. If I'm in Alaska, why the hell would I want to waste time climbing a hub of plastic?
The Cialis ads featuring the bathtubs also annoy me, but allow me to make a statement for a radio ad...
...ever heard of Netflix's ads on the radio? You know, what used to be dubbed "the Bonus Round" where a question is asked, and the answer is entirely different?

Old Navy and those god damn mannequins Second. I was actually rooting for the "ten-inch announcer" to stay around, as absurd he was. But, no, we get stuck with the mannequins again.

I don't know if PSA's count, but I hate Above the Influence. If they're not completely hokey skits about how drugs make you look silly (rather than being dangerous or illegal), they are completely random without even knowing what the message is. Now they just show teens doing random things...so we're supposed to take away from it that they're not getting high because they're walking around playgrounds and music stores?

IMHO, what makes them stupid is that the real appeal of drugs to teens has to do with the rebelliousness of them. People know that drugs are dangerous. That`s what motivates them. The taboo nature of them.
