I am watching it on dvd as I type and its not that bad. The humor is fine, gives a few nods to the original
I will even add, I think I see a lot of Will Smith's charisma in the kid that although not fully shining through, in time it will be.

I loved it, I remember watching it with my friends and us wincing during the big tournament at the end.
"OH MY GOD, WHO WOULD SANCTION THIS!?!?!?"
"Thats against the rules? Sure, Mounted punches and elbow drops are perfectly legal, but THATS WRONG!?"

wasn't as terrible as it could have been, but I can't abide a couple named Will & Jada having kids named Willow & Jaden. Can't do it.
For all the wrong reasons, I hated it.

Loved it. The fighting was BRUTAL, and it was just a great time seeing little kids kick the crap out of each other.  |

I thought the ending move he did to the bully was even more fake than the original's crane kick, but other than that the entire movie was great and very faithful to the original. The title should still be "Kung Fu Kid" but I do kinda understand why they stuck with the "Karate Kid" title.

Yeah the end move was pretty dumb, but the cobra stuff, I still do that to people randomly in conversation, its awesome.

I actually considering making a thread title "Screw Nostalgia" after seeing this about remakes that were better. Yes I said it. I liked the remake better.
