Since we've had about 6,000 Simpson quotes threads, I'm wondering what jokes, quotes, etc. do you think just sucked on the show.
One I can think of is in the most recent Treehouse of Horror. During the Twilight parody, the vampire boy goes, "You're tearing me apart dad!" like a parody of "The Room."
It was just like the Simpsons writers thought, "Well hey everyone else is parodying it? Let's just throw it in there."

I haven't watched an episode of this show in like ten years, but for some reason maybe a year ago I watched a new episode (must have been realllllly bored) and the entire thing was just sad.
Nothing was funny. They threw in just about every "hip" reference they could about iPods and other stupid crap.
Just made me remember why I didn't even like the show when it was good.

Two come to mind.
The South Park parody which after viewing, Bart and Milhouse twirl arm in arm chanting 'Cartoon Violence'.
And the other is the one where Bart belches, Marge chastises him then immediately breaks wind. I hate fart jokes at the best of times, but this was just cheap and ridiculous.

The first half of the episode with the Glee cameo was just flat. It seemed like they wanted the cameo just for the sake of the cameo.

The whole Muppets short from the christmas special.
Most notably the joke where Katy Perry kisses Mr. Burns, to which he replies "I Kissed a girl and I liked it".

That joke contradicts the Larry Burns episode, too. So I don't like it. Speaking of guest stars, the one with NSync or the Backstreet Boys or some boy band with the one guy who ended each appearance with "word" was pretty unfunny.

Pretty much the whole of The Simpson's movie fell flat.
Especially Spider-Pig.
In fact the only bit of the Simpson's Movie which got a laugh out of me was when Bart changed the wanted poster.

I remember back in the day when they would crib from stff like Citizen Kane back in the day. That stuff was actually funny and well done. Nowadays it's shoehorning as much current s*** as possible. Like the Katy Perry appearance for example. The only f***ing reason that was made was because of the Sesame Street incident. Plus that whole Martha Stewart segmant was terrible. No real Simpsons fans give a horse's ass about s*** like Sesame Street or Martha Stewart.

Yeah......That was a horrible excuse to have an unfunny guest star.....kinda like a LOT of the last few seasons. Seriously, Sasha Baron Cohen isn't that funny at the BEST of times, then you saddle him with a horrible character as well......not your best work Simpsons Writing Staff

Every episode seems to require a celebrity these days, quite the change from the early seasons when they preferred not to have them and the shows were hugely successful.
But please, Al Jean et al. keep throwing random celebrities into episodes, it's so obviously the way to go.

I remember being REALLY disappointed with the Bret Hart episode when it first aired because WWE made a massive deal about it and I don't even think he had 1 minute of screen time.
I haven't watched the show regularly in probably 7 or 8 years. I can't stand it anymore - I just don't find it funny.

Virtually every joke in Marge's Fear of Flying. That episode was horrendous.

Well, there are A LOT in the recent years. I'd say (on the new episodes) about 80-90% of the jokes are just awful. For me at least.
Two that really stand out are Bart/Principal Skinner having a Prawn and Peanut fight in the style of a Lightsaber fight, and Lisa and Bart having a battle (complete with dragons) with Mailmen, I think. Just absolutely awful "jokes" that dragged on and on. Made worse by the fact that Simpsons was always kind of realistic, and these two "jokes" were not at all. Sherry Bobbins got away with it because that episode was fantastic, these two segments were just painful.

I love Family Guy. I love The Simpsons.
I don't like The Simpsons trying to be Family Guy. I doubt I'd like it if Family Guy tried to be The Simpsons.
