However, for reasons that involve thinking, I'd like to stray away from the usual suspects (Kill the Alligator and Run, Simpson Safari, Bart-Mangled Banner, and Saddlesore Galactica) and focus on a few examples: *Every "Three Story" episode outside of the "Treehouse of Horror Trilogy": These episodes generally feel like there is a devoid lack of creativity in 'em whatsoever. For example "Four Great Women and a Manicure" had a repetitive setup for its stories, along with a really horrid "Snow White" parody that had to end with Lisa getting all feminist. "Revenge is a Dish Best-Served Three Times" is also lame, but the worst one has to be the Valentine's-themed episode. The "Bonnie and Clyde" parody stunk, and the parody of "Lady and the Tramp" is a textbook example of how not to parody a film. But the worst one has to be the take on Debbie Sinclair and Sid Vicious with the replacement of drugs with chocolate. *Midnight Towboy: Start off with a random reference to "Animal House", suspend all logic with towns being out of milk for years, have Homer get another moonlighting job. Plus, something that is actually worse than "Rover Hendrix": I got a few more, but I wanna hear your choices.

That one where Homer bowled a 300 game has to be one of, if not the worst. Probably my least favorite anyway.
Also, the episode where Bart becomes a horse jockey is pretty bad.
That's not even getting into the more recent seasons. Actually, the Simpsons have been on a bit of an upswing recently, but from like 2001-2008 they produced so much crap, its tough to believe its the same show from the 1990s.

Bart as a jockey with the jockeys being a bizarre race of elves. That one stank.
Bart as a rapper.
Lisa getting a restraining order against Bart.

Three more. Bear in mind that some of the anger is pointed at one character.
*On a Clear Day, I Can't See My Sister: This is one of the three episodes that made me wanna hate Lisa. I mean, yeah Bart can be a total ass, but there are other manners in which you deal with him as opposed to just filing a restraining order. Also, there was a godawful Wal-Mart parody. I never thought I'd say this, but "Family Guy" did a much better job parodying the company. Showing the impact on local business was better than having "mind control" or lame banner gags. Speaking of "mind control", that was a form of blatant false advertising when the episode was hyped. *Pranksta Rap: Another "I Hate Lisa" episode, but this one featured a really piss-poor portrayal of rappers and the industry. When the hell did Bart like hip-hop? Plus, there was that dumb "cover up" storyline in the third act. *All's Fair in Oven War: The last "Hate Lisa" episode. Not only did you have lame gags, but the fact that this episode is devoted to Lisa getting on her soap box despite the fact that she saw what the other contestants were doing to Marge's project. Add to the random opening in which the family got a new kitchen (therefore, it must be eliminated in the next episode), and a dumb b-plot about Bart reading Playdudes. Lastly, the last joke in the episode is similar to a Family Guy-type parody in which they did the whole "Sonny Corleone Death Scene" with mobsters being replaced by rednecks. Bear in mind they did the same parody in "Mr. Plow" and that was one of my favorite jokes from that episode (where Bart got pummeled with snowballs).
This actually started all the way back in "Homer vs. Lisa and the Eighth Commandment", but what is it with Lisa being a person who'd rather see everyone be extremely moral than enjoying some form of happiness?

The Fight Before Christmas
None of the shorts were funny Nobody gives a s*** about Martha Stewart anymore Nobody should give a s*** about Katy Perry The great show that would crib Citizen Kane is now lowering itself to reference a stupid Sesame Street controversy.

What is 'Rover Hendrix'? I've seen it mentioned tonnes of times on here.
Is it the gag from the Hullapollozza (sp?) episode?

Lisa the Drama Queen. Unquestionably the worst Simpsons episode I have ever seen. Not one laugh, and Lisa's friend was creepy and weird. The lesbian undertones also freaked me out. Not one redeeming quality.

The setup was that Homer was going to denouncer a vet's warning about taking another cannonball to the stomach being fatal. Homer: "You don't scare me, doc, 'cause dying would be a stone groove. Got any messages for Jimi Hendrix?" Vet: "Yes. Pick up your puppy." (shot of Rover)The writers and producers, in both interviews and in the commentary during the episode, said it was the worst "end of act gag" they ever did, but I consider the "End of Act 2" gag from Midnight Towboy to be the worst.

It's not awful, just in what is a very funny episode and following the "rest your beer on your head or your genitals" line it did nothing but perhaps raise a smile, for what should have been the punchline.

I always thought it wasnt't awful but was perhaps slightly dark.

It's sad to say that the question now is which episode of the simpsons didn't sucked Well I'd disagree, I feel after the gutterdrag that was the mid-00s, the Simpsons went on to recover pretty sharply, most noticeably post movie episodes. I can't help but think the movie reinvigorated the creative process. Mind, it was written of in factual terms, that the series was due for canceling in the early noughties, and it would've been a shame, considering the depths it had sunk to at that time. Where they were parading these dogged shows, seemingly to fill contracted tv space and was virtually screaming just to be ripped off the air. Few characterizations went unblemished and the plots tended to be too far flung and self referentially wacky . Now, it's restoring itself to the glory it once knew. Homer's becoming a deeply flawed but wonderfully loving character again and everyone else is following suitably. I'm enjoying it so much again.

"Co-Dependent's Day" - Homer and Marge become drinking buddies, and after getting into an accident Homer makes it look like Marge was driving. That's really all that needs to be said. Really, Homer is going to do that? That complete shit all over the Homer character.

Homer Simpson in: "Kidney Trouble."
It got to the point where when Homer was crushed near the end of the show I actually applauded. Maybe the defining episode of jerk Homer.
