The official reason Batts was cut from his developmental contract was that he had a horrible attitude. In regards to specific reasons for his release, he was said to be in poor shape, had little desire to improve, was rude and not popular amongst his peers, milked injuries & sat out of wrestling practice, wrestled in "indy style" instead of "WWE style," threw bad punches, and lastly, he had a bad haircut. source: www.f4wonline.com This is a shame; I am a Mikey Batts mark, and I really wanted to see him in the WWE. This gimmick would have been great for him; at his size in the WWE, he would have needed a flashy gimmick, and with three more Harry Potter movies coming out this could have been a gravy train. I thought Batts had looked chubbier in the past year, and his haircut has always been a mess, but I like his in-ring style. He no-showed his last TNA date because they wanted him to job in a handicap match; I defended him at the time, but now I wonder if it isn't just a deeper attitude problem. It's Zach Gowen Syndrome.

Welp I've never read a Potter book and have seen like part of one movie
BUT
as an adult who watches a "sport" where guys are essentially pretending to fight, I'm not about to crap on anyone's entertainment choice.

I've seen all the movies thus far (on DVD, not in the theaters), but have never read the books. I find the movies entertaining and imaginitive, and the special effects/CGI are nice.
I also saw Chronicles of Narnia and Chronicles of Riddick. I have a wide variety of interests.
And what Joe Fixit said...yeah, that too.

Very funny, but not true. From the sound of this and what news I read earlier, McMahon did not like Batts anyway. At 1 time Batts was going to be put in the short lived midget division (seriously). Therefore, he should not bail them out by taking a stupid gimmick nobody else would. No reason to hurt future indy and Japan bookings by geeting strangled with a dumb gimmick. Personally, I could care less 1 way or another about Batts. I do not think TNA has any further interest in him. Actually Big Matthew Cool you make some great points. There are tons of indies in Florida--Batts' former TNA partner Jerelle Clark makes his living largely in the Florida indies, so I think Batts could too. I doubt TNA would take him back at this point, but Clark is one of the guys who barely gets to TNA these days himself, so Florida indy wrestlers make do without them. I also don't believe these stories that Batts is only 5 feet tall. He served 2 years in the Air Force, and almost every enlisted job has a height requirement of at least 5'4"--I think even the bare minimum is slightly over 5 feet. He's small, and 5'8" might be pressing it, but Jerelle Clark is 5'6" and Batts is at least that tall: I could see WWE wanting to put Batts in the Juniors division anyway, and maybe that pissed Batts off to the point that he said screw the Harry Potter stuff. But it would have been funny in ECW, if only to see Sandman cane him. Thank you, your point on the Air Force is dead on. They do have height and weight requirements. I am sure Batts is bigger than they say he is. Like on the old 1960's Dragnet where they talk about height and weight requirements police departments have even if they may have to disqualify some good candidates. Batts knows his future is in FIH, ROH, CZW, Japan, et cetera, not the WWF. No reason for him to make it tougher to get himself booked by having a lame gimmick saddled on him for life. Maybe do it if it was 1 shot to get caned by Sandman, but not full time. If you can not work out the gimmick to make it decent like Foley did with Mason The Mutilator, avoid it or you will end up with a blue Nerf helmet or yellow jock strap on your head.

A harry potter gimmick? God I would have loved to have seen that. I mark out for wrestlers who have magic powers.

Your pretty much right on with that. But just to point out, the guy with the blue nerf helmet and the guy with the yellow jock strap did pretty well for themselves after shedding those gimmicks. But in rare cases, horrible gimmicks could end up making you more over after you drop it. Like Matt Borne, he would have been mega over in ECW as Borne Again if those damn demons wouldnt have captured him!

Sandman caning HP would be awesome. Smash up his glasses with the cane then take his wand to crack it over his skull.

The WWE creative team told the recently released Mikey Batts to learn a British accent for a "Harry Potter" gimmick they came up with. The five foot tall wrestler refused. His refusal obviously didn't bode well with management and he was released a short while later. . . . Were they doing drugs, or just shoving knitting pins through their ears? I'm guessing the former. Which reminds me, one of these days i'm going to find the WWE writers, ask what they're smoking, and if i can buy some off them.

The firing of Mikey Batts made me a sad panda. I also think that his haircut being a reason to fire him hilarious.

Good for Batts to stand up for himself. It will probably cost him financially but at least he has his self respect. Probably guys like Nick Dinsmore and Vito wished they did the same. I'd probably have a bad attitude if my bosses were clueless morons like Steph, Johnny Ace, and their sitcom writing flunkies too.
