Report: NFL to Punish Brett Favre Over Sexting
11 minutes ago by TMZ Staff
Brett Favre will finally have to pay for allegedly texting photos of his dong knob to former NY Jets employee Jen Sterger -- the NFL has reportedly decided to fine the legendary QB over the scandal.
There was speculation Favre could face a suspension -- but early this morning, FOX Sports reporter Jay Glazer twittered, "Commish is expected to fine Brett Favre today, tomorrow the latest, but NOT suspend Favre."
As we previously reported, the NFL had launched an investigation to see if Favre had violated the league's personal conduct policy during his correspondence with Sterger.
Filed under: Brett Favre, Jenn Sterger, TMZ SportsHEH? Brett punished? I woulda never thought. That $25 fine is going to really hit his wallet. I know I'm going to be raked over the coals by a poster or two over this (because the man still has fans), but if it were any other player in the NFL, they would have been suspended at least 3 games. Because it's Favre, it will be a fine, and what do you want to bet it's going to be an "Undisclosed amount of money?" And what do you want to bet that someone on ESPN will say that he's just a big kid who likes to play the game? ;D I was over on another site reading the article about this, and the comments underneath were divided. Half of the posters were saying that it was about time, the other half were calling Sterger every name in the book.

If they had any balls they would have suspended him for his last ever game.

If they had any balls they would have suspended him for his last ever game. I knew the NFL lacked the cajones to suspend Favre after, oh, Halloween. This whole issue broke in early October. The head honchos at the league offices said that the investigation would last about one month before a result was finalized. Well, one month passed...then two months passed. We're coming up on three months since the story broke, and we finally got our resolution. The NFL never drags its feet in handing out fines or suspensions, so I knew something wasn't right when we entered December and there was still nothing to report on the Favre front. So next Sunday, Favre will get to play his "final game", he'll get to go out with all the fawning and adulation that he believes he deserves, and then he'll hijack the off-season again, and we'll be right back at square one next summer. Meanwhile, Joe Webb, a quarterback who was actually productive and led the Vikings to an impressive upset victory last night, will ride the bench, because a washed-up forty-something quarterback absolutely needs his last moment in the spotlight, and he doesn't care who it affects on his team or how it affects the organization as a whole.

If Leslie Frazier had any spine whatsover, he'd tell Brett to sit down the last week because they want to see more out of Webb. I mean, they have to see what this kid has, why not evaluate him against a suddenly hot Detroit squad?

Suspending Favre won't do anything because he's going to magically be placed on the IR anyway and suddenly retire. I'm sure of it.

Quoted for truth. All this, between Favre and the sports media(namely ESPN and NFL Network), has gotten to the point that hardly anybody is going to be sitting there in a couple of years and say "I really wish Brett Favre was still playing." It's been more about how much love the media and the Packers/Jets/Vikings were showing Favre than actually doing the things that he needed to do to put his team in the best position to win. Yeah, he did get close to the Super Bowl twice in the last few years, but it was his play that kept him from returning to the Super Bowl. The last images of John Elway's career is of a guy who checked his ego at the door near the end of his career to do what it took to help the Broncos win back-to-back Super Bowls (including a run for a first down where he sacrificed his body to get the last yards he needed, against Favre's team, no less). The lasting images of the end of Brett Favre's career are going to be him clutching "hurt" body parts when he threw yet another bad interception because he hijacked the playcalling yet again to take the ball out of Adrian Peterson's hands. It's a shame that the prime of a great running back like Adrian Peterson is being wasted to give an aging quarterback who was double-teamed by Father Time and Mother Nature his windmill tilting sucking off.

Are you f***ing kidding me? From Greg Aiello of NFL PR:
He isn't even being punished for his behavior. It's for not cooperating. Which ... why wouldn't you cooperate if you DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG?
What bullcrap.

Looks like they fined him 50k for 'failure to cooperate' with the investigation, not for whipping out little Brett.
They could not find that he actually violated league policy (!).

I know people got all excited lighting torches and sharpening pitchforks, but I thought this board had rules against people wishing harm on others.
In the past couple months I've seen all kinds of comments about people hoping Brett got hurt.
What's up with that?
I don't love the dude and I want to see Webb play, but I'm not wishing harm on another human over some stupid game we all just love too much.

Redskins placed FS Kareem Moore on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
Clinton Portis indicated he's not willing to take a pay cut to return to the Redskins.
Portis said he "played for pennies in Denver" and was "awesome" but now is "supposedly overpaid" in Washington because he's been "injury-riddled" the last two seasons

What bullcrap. So basically, Rothlisberger was suspended for 6 games (initially, reduced to 4) for allegations that couldn't be proven, yet in another case where allegations couldn't be proven it's just a fine? Edit: Supposedly, they didn't suspend him because they couldn't tell whose penis it was in the pictures. Why don't they ask Gruden and Madden, who have been fellating him for years whether or not it's his? ;D

I don't love the dude and I want to see Webb play, but I'm not wishing harm on another human over some stupid game we all just love too much. The thing is the guy gets hurt anyway. Even if we keep our mouth shut, he gets hurt through his own ego and stubborness. He's like Kenny from South Park, except we're not all happy when he comes back for the next episode. Favre had so many chances to ride off into the sunset, even in defeat. Last season, when he was picked off by Porter and the Vikings lost the NFC title game...that was a perfect time to hang 'em up. The guy wowed everyone with what a 40+ yr old man could still do. He had proven his point, that he still had it in him....but that wasn't enough. The guy even made me despise him when he would poke fun at his indecisiveness. At first it was funny and made him likeable...but then it kept going and going...until you realized he was never going to let go. Now his legacy has suffered for it, even if you took the Sterger fiasco out of the equation. Sure it seems a little hypocritical to bash a guy like Favre on a board that praises pro-wrestling....an activity filled with people who are past their prime and still get in the ring. Sure, you could say this is really ESPN's fault for the non-stop Favre talk (acting like the Pope just died whenever it looks like Favre will really retire). But at times you started to think ESPN was a puppet and Favre soon became the puppeteer...knowing full well of the power he had. It's hard to explain, but right now I kinda feel relieved because I really feel like this is the end of Favre's career....and we won't have to hear about him for another five years when Canton comes calling.

the league just phrased it like that so they wouldn't have to say "Brett Favre has been fined $50,000 for whipping it out and taking an unfortunate photo".
I've taken as many shots at Brett as anyone, but right now, I just feel sad. He had so many chances to leave on a high note, and he blew it because... well, I don't even know why.
Competitive? Most definitely. Egotistical? Without question. Petty? Unfortunately.

Granted the allegations are different but if Im Rothlisberger, I'd be pretty pissed right now, and this is coming from someone who flat out dislikes everything about him. The league has absolutely no testicles at all. This is a HUGE victory for Favre ballwashers everywhere.
